I would love that. He would be a great addition to the second unit. If we could upgrade at SG and have a second unit of Sessions-Neal-Henderson-Zeller-Biz that would be great.

I love Sesh, especially more than Ridnour & Neal, but I also think there is a reason they traded him. His style of play, while effective doesn't fit with the PNR style offense Cliff wants. So, while I'd be chill with him coming back, I'm pessimistic mgmt will want to sign him.

It looks pretty clear that we will need to sign a new backup point guard though.

which would you choose?

Player Team Age
Mo Williams POR 31
Greivis Vasquez TOR 27
Beno Udrih MEM 31
Isaiah Thomas SAC 25
Rodney Stuckey DET 28
Ramon Sessions MIL 28
Nate Robinson DEN 30
Brian Roberts NOP 28
Patty Mills SAN 25
Eric Maynor PHL 27
Kyle Lowry TOR 28
Shaun LivingstonBRK 28
Kirk Hinrich CHI 33
Devin Harris DAL 31
Darren Collison LAC 26
Mario Chalmers MIA 28
Aaron Brooks DEN 29
Eric Bledsoe PHX 24
Jerryd Bayless BOS 25
D.J. Augustin CHI 26

Some will be after starting positions or are very unlikely like Bledsoe, Lowry and Isiah.

There are a few intriguing names like Livingston (I think will stay in Brooklyn) and Vasquez.
Mo Williams would be handy, but I can see him staying at Portland.
I can't see She J returning here. Nate would play to much like Neal for my liking, we don't need another chucker.
Collison and Brooks?
I've always wanted Hinrich, but he's getting a little old now. He is playing well at the moment, but was looking his age at the start at the season. Again I can see him staying at his current team.

It seems likely that Sess might return.

When you look at the list of possibilities, Sessions looks much better. Wouldn't shock me to see us draft a PG with that Portland pick.

I honestly think he was traded because he was the most expendable.

Unless he wants the min, Ridnour will be gone, we'll most likely re-sign Ramon for roughly the same deal and then have gained Neal for a couple of million bucks and Adrien.

Then Cho and co will probably trade Neal at next seasons deadline for another under the radar deal.

I actually thought Sesh was making an effort in the several wks before he was traded to mix in more with the offense, looked effective playing mins alongside Kemba, actually throwing some passes and even mixing in some 3 pt shots. I wondered at the time if they threatened to bench or trade him in order to get him to play that way, or if he was just smart enough to recognize they didn't need him to dominate scoring as much anymore, but I was liking alot the way he was playing right before the trade.

I'd be happy to get Livingston back, Vasquez would be ok, maybe Brian Roberts (remember, this is for backup). Should be a number of upside PGs available at POR pick, but unless they grab a born leader like Nick Johnson (more of a combo guard) the others (like Semaj Christon) are gonna take a while to be NBA ready. I'm a Marcus Paige fan if he comes out.

drafting a PG with the Portland pick would still require us to sign a backup. If we want to keep making the playoffs we can't rely upon a late 1st round pick as our backup.

Unless we get really lucky.

Another interesting name to throw out there is Calderon. Dallas is absolutely loaded with guards and would probably let him go almost for free. He's a little expensive for a backup and kind of old, but he provides the veteran passing ability and is an absolutely terrific shooter. Clifford's system can mask his defensive woes to an extent. He's a starting caliber player, easily better than Sessions, but we could use him if we strike out on other FAs.

1. Calderon is Dallas' starting point guard. Not sure they would give him away for free
2. Calderon earns more and has a longer contract than Hendo.

No thanks

If we can bring back Sessions on the cheap, we absolutely have to do it. Not only is he one of the best backup PGs out there (despite his flaws), he also apparently loves it here in Charlotte, and that's an underrated aspect imo. When we have veterans like Big Al and Sessions coming to Charlotte because they love living there, it's got to be a huge positive and it could make other FAs want to come here once the word is spread.

I agree but I would think the team would like to get a young guy who could grow with the rest of the team instead of bringing in a different hired gun every year or two to backup Kemba. I don't think they will necessarily reach for a guy but I could see them going PG if they felt he was the BPA. Any pick in the 20's is a crap shoot but it would be great if we could get lucky with a guy who could contribute within his first year or two. Somebody who could help stabilize the second team so we don't have such a steep drop off when Kemba isn't playing.

our FA shopping list should include

1-Backup PG (even if we draft one with POR or 2nd round pick)
2-A starting shooting guard (move Geraldo to 6th man)
3-A starting PF (depending on if we think Zeller can start) if he can start find a backup (defensive backup)
4-A few shooters
5-Possibly a starting SF (can address with DET pick if we get it)

Sign Ed Davis and Ramon Sessions, draft McDermott with Detroit's pick, re-sign McBob, Flogging Tolly, and CDR and call it an offseason.

Al/Biz
McBob/Zeller/Ed Davis
MKG/McDermott/Tolliver
Hendo/Neal/CDR
Kemba/Sessions
and stash Portland's pick and our 2nd either in the D-League or overseas.

Always the chance we use Hendo to upgrade Portland's pick to a mid-to-late-10s pick which also opens up cap space (Lance?).

Cho was eyeballing Gary Harris I bet, and would take him with the Pistons pick, so I don't think Doug McDermott is a possibility and especially not with MKG, Tolliver and Jeffrey Taylor.

If the Pistons keep their pick it will be interesting to see if Cho targets a shooting guard in free agency to make up for missing Gary Harris from the roster they planned. Harris probably would have replaced CDR and taken over after Henderson in a couple years.

I want a bomb dropped on the Hendo-MKG Siamese twin - have to split them.

I would like to sign Ed, but we could do better than Tolly and CDR (even tho i like them both) maybe Wesley Johnson and Jordan Hamilton and for McBob i probably wouldn't resign him if he declines his player option

PG-Kemba/Sessions/Draft pick
SG-Gerald/Neal/Hamilton
SF-MKG/Doug/Johnson
PF-Zeller/Davis/Draft pick
C-Al/Biz/Haywood (yes he is still on team)

that is 15 players

yea we can't have both MKG and Gerald on the team.....i pick MKG because he is younger and has really good potential....Gerald is about as average as you can get
