Senselessly personal and petty.

(Not Tron Carter's post -- that was very funny.)

To be fair -- and I'm not going after you or Knicks fans here -- that's really not at all how Dolan came across yesterday. He seems the opposite to me -- not that confident, not polished at all, not that interested in having his opinion carry the day. He probably handed out his CDs to show that there is more to him than just being an owner -- another, more interesting side to him. Okay he sucks as a musician -- I don't know -- who cares. But I don't think it was vanity driving him. Whether he sucks at music or not, at least he's doing something with his life that doesn't involve 'thinking bad thoughts' about Isola and Wojina all day ... which is what they do with him. They're obsessed. He's not. Seems rich and happy lol.

Anything goes today in the new media environment, and I'm fine with that really, but I'm not sure Wojina and Isola realize how low they've gotten. This is a sustained and unsubstantiated campaign of character assassination.

And why? Because the guy is a billionaire and a public figure. I didn't realize that having a lot of money in this country makes you culpable of whatever crime people make up. He's famous too and his basketball team has been an abject failure, I get it, but the whole media reaction has sunk to new lows.

I'm glad he came across well yesterday because the people who really hate him in the media have been shown to be at least partially caricaturing the guy and now they look pretty lacking in credibility.

Love the guy or hate the guy, I really don't care and personally I'm mostly neutral on him. But people should try to work on their standards and fairness.

Make no mistake about it -- Isola and Wojina are not like the Knicks fans here that are frustrated by the team losing. No, it's the opposite -- it bothers them that Dolan even exists and they hate what the Knicks stand for. That's why Isola made up a whole bunch of stuff recently or just relied on terrible sources, flatly misreporting the Phil thing in so many ways (when the courtship began, who was doing the courtship, whether Mills was involved, whether Mills will still be in the front office, how much Phil would make, whether Phil will have ownership -- he didn't get ANY of the key facts right). Because he's blinded by his hatred.

And they're crying in their soup today. Dolan got the better of them a) signing Phil, and b) rolling it out so well. Guess what c) is? It's going to work. Phil will remake this team. And they can't stand it. I wouldn't even like Dolan if it wasn't for their childish hatred.

To me, he now represents the Knicks themselves -- and an attack on him by the media blowhards is an attack on all Knicks fans  There I said it. And it'll be fun watching them be proven wrong again and again when this team starts winning.

God, Dolan said yesterday that he was forced to become involved in the operations of the basketball team, despite not being particularly knowledgable about basketball. You don't think that's vanity? What made him even think he could contribute anything, except his money?

Now, that said, I praised this hire in the NY Times (a venue where I've eviscerated Dolan) - so I'm glad that he's finally realized the mess he's made, and I give him credit for that. Now he just needs to let the professionals do their job.

You can't rush winning - and when you try you get the Knicks 2013-14 season.

Well we don't have enough information to know. He didn't say how he became involved or what the circumstances were. Perhaps Walsh stepped aside because he didn't think that Melo would go to Brooklyn and didn't want to negotiate with the Nuggets at all. Or maybe he's just referring to the recent hire of Mills where he was running everything up to Dolan (in part because of the imminent hire of Phil), and Dolan didn't want that role or it was very time-consuming.

Whatever it is, Dolan (if he was in control) didn't make any moves this February, and I genuinely believed him when he said that he did not enjoy making these decisions and didn't think he had the expertise to qualify as a basketball guy. So if it was vanity, it was short-lived and he came to his senses quickly, which in and of itself means the vanity wasn't very severe.

yes, i believe dolan didn't want to make any decisions because he knew he wasn't qualified to make such decisions. dolan was dealt a bad hand... then he folded/lost on a bluff, and was dealt another bad hand. then again it happened. pretty please believe in dolan. he's a sweet sweet man.

It was well known at the time that Dolan ordered Layden to get rid of Sprewell and Marcus Camby. It was well known that he wanted big changes, and thus was pushing for a move like the Marbury trade. It has been rumored that it wasn't Isiah who wanted Larry Brown, but Dolan - who always prefers the big name, etc. It was obvious that Dolan was obsessed with one-upping Prokhorov, and keeping Anthony away from the Nets, and that obsession contributed to the excessive price the Knicks paid for the player, etc.

The hardest thing for rich guys to learn about professional sports is that their money has little value in a league where everyone else is either as rich or richer. They can try throwing their weight around, but it will not allow them to consistently win any quicker.

The best thing an owner can do is put the right management team in place, and then get the hell out of the way.

If it had the original version of his song "Ghost", I would've taken a copy, that song is pretty bad ass

Aside from that, Dolan's music sucks. Would make a helluva weed tray though

I tell you what the media is scrambling right now, some have made a serious living on trashing the knicks and dolan, what are they going to do moving forward...its going to be funny to watch..for example Isola..its just sad now reading his tweets... just sad..

they can barley state the obvious that bringing in Pjax was a brilliant move, and to be honest I even liked Dolan's explanation to why Mills wasnt speaking. Do we really want to hear Mills say either 1. Lie to fans and say everything is alright or 2. say we suck and undermine coach? Ya there should be a medium between the two but he does have some logic in his explanation. Like for example this article..im sure they knew about this 4 years ago.. and now they are writing this? That or CAA just leaked this to embarrass Dolan bc they are pissed. one of the two..either way..

When New York Knicks executives chased free agents in the summer of 2010, owner James Dolan made himself a part of the presentations. He isn't the most engaging, enchanting man, but Dolan does fancy himself a musician. So, yes, there were player and agent meetings four years ago when Dolan delivered a parting gift on the way out of the room.

"He passed out copies of his CD," said a source, who stuffed his copy of one into a bag and no longer remembers where it's gone.

It featured the melodies of JD and the Straight Shot, Dolan's corner-bar band that bought itself into the opening act on tour with the Eagles. Dolan's world revolves around the Eagles, and no one has helped meld his fantasy camp/groupie life of bad teams and super groups more gloriously than notorious ball-busting Eagles business manager Irving Azoff.

Jimmy Dolan's a fan of the Eagles ? Not only he's a terrible owner but his tastes in music are awful ! LOL
