I heard some of the interview on ESPN radio. I dont think this is all of it. But I believe everyone is referring to this sit down.

all u laker fans in denial haha. losing phil is like losing einstein, there's just no other way to put it. and this isn't coming from a knick fan…i'm from chicago.

regardless, i wish u guys the best, u live in the best place in the world. i'm sure you'll be able to get over phil jackson. i'd kill to have your lifestyle. if i lived with u guys i'd live in orange county, maybe newport beach with rodman. and laguna of course is exotic with its teal waters.

only thing that sucks about cali is the taxes. the millionaires take-home pay out there is 42-43% of their salaries. that means kobe's 30 mil this season is worth only 13 mil. thank god he signed that ridiculous extension…thanks to uncle sam, he'll need it.

People over exaggerate California taxes, but property taxes kicks guys asses in other states. Hell Texas and New York has some of the highest property taxes in the nation.

It depends on how you look at that stuff, plus it's so many kick backs here it's funny.

And uhh not all Laker fans are in denial, yeah Phil is great but you have to move on and not get all sentimental to these coaches or players. This is coming from a decades long fan who's seen over 4 generations of Laker teams.

We'll move on believe that.

She's the President... She also says she has faith in Jim and Mitch to make basketball decisions...

This is just here accepting responsibility for the team and deflecting some of the heat Jim and Mitch are receiving.

Jeanie had a lot of interesting things to say. A lot of it I didn't know. I'd encourage everyone to listen to the mason and Ireland pod cast from yesterday. She was in studio for 1hr. I only heard snippets but the stuff I heard was interesting. Things I didn't know:

I didn't know the league recognized her as the owner
I didn't know she could remove Jim from his duties
Essentially I didn't know she was the boss

I'm sure the league does view her as the owner and in charge of the Lakers, but if I remember right, the will indicated the roles they were to have and that every sibling had to agree to a change.

I still think Jeanie is doing damage control on not hiring Phil and Kobe's comments about who's in charge.

Which I'm relieved to see frankly... Everyone's saying the right things right now... We just need this miserable season to end so we can draft and trade and see what we have going on come training camp.

I don't think Jeannie would've hired Phil because blood is thicker than water. At least it should be.
Any good sister/family should and has to take her siblings side no matter what unless its something that is completely wrong. To her and to others that have spoken out about Jim and the F.O its not that bad and serious. There are glitches and issues, but It could be worked out.

For her to do all these interviews, they obviously sensed they need to do some PR in wake of Phil hiring. But I think she also basically just spoke the truth about why the Lakers didn't offer Phil a position. The Lakers don't need a new GM/guy to make basketball decisions, they need a head coach.

I was picking up lunch and the radio guys were talking about Coach K being an ideal hire for the Lakers- big name with NBA credibility (due to coaching Team USA all these years and interacting with players.) I thought it was a good point- the Lakers don't specifically need Coach K of course, but I think they really want to bring in a coach that sets a tone for the team across the league, such as when the Knicks brought in Phil, or a better example being the Clippers getting Doc Rivers.

If they do that, draft well, and maybe re-sign Pau at a fair rate, they can improve next year and can become a team back on the upswing, if not a serious contender.

Coach K has said he's not going to coach anywhere else, and he'd be the oldest coach in the league by 2 years...

He's only 2 years younger than Phil...

Pretty sure the window of opportunity for Coach K to the NBA has closed.

Coach K got outcoached today against Mercer. Very small sample size, and probably even irrelevant given the resume, but none the less it was ugly.

Who knows what could happen now, he hasn't won at Duke in 4 years (seemed longer at first thought).

Big Game there is no way Kilroy could post that will because there is public access to such documents. But I het the interview live. Just in my opinion seems like Jeanie was just glossing over stuff. The only thing she established was that she was the controlling CEO. And like Kilroy said seems sure as hell that she could have hired Phil.

When she mentioned that, the first thing that came to my mind was she didn't want to get involved in the emotional part of a vote situation. This is what anything left in a trust comes down to.

Like I said the Lakers won't get better soon until Jeanie establishes that she can run this team in a stern and dominate state of power. She seems to sensitive when the interest involves her.

Oh and remember this fellas, teams that are left for family to run usually have a dysfunctional period that eventually leads to sales of those teams. Happened with the Dolphins, the 49ers and several others.

The Lakers will be no different, we just need more time to see if they can hack this.
