Trade up?
Hey Suns fans, friendly Pistons fan here. It looks like we have a chance to keep our pick this draft, but the best prospects available there are bigs (Gordon, Vonleh, Randle), which is the last thing we need. I was curious, since you guys have multiple picks, would you like to trade up with us? I know that a lot can change in the lottery, but assuming you keep the picks you're going to get now, would you give us your pick and the Wizard's pick? Wizards pick and Minni's pick (assuming they keep it this year)? I don't know all of the protections and everything, so I can't be sure of the value, but I'm just curious if you think it's realistic or possible.

Re: Trade up?
If we had any control of the managerial decisions of this ball club, I think we would love to trade up. The Minny pick and the Washington would work for us. But unfortunately we don't make any choices.

Re: Trade up?
Well, a fanbase usually has a better idea of what it's front office wants to do than outsiders like me, so I figured that you guys would be the best to ask.
I'd like a trade down personally. We need wing players badly, so I'd like to be able to take chances on guys like Kyle Anderson, KJ McDaniels, Rodney Hood, and so on. Just get some shooting into the rotation to space the floor (athleticism and defense would be nice too).
Do you guys have extra second rounders? I got a few guys I like in the 2nd round too (Delon Wright will be a stud), and we've got a history of nailing our 2nd round picks in Detroit. I'd obviously prefer the 1st round picks to any 2nd round picks, but hey, I'll take what I can get.

Re: Trade up?
I think a trade makes sense for both sides if Randle or Vonleh falls to 8. Otherwise, Kyle Anderson might be a good pick-up for DET.

I understand, but do you work for Detroit? There isn't much you can do, is there?
But to answer you second question, we have only our second rounder. We had the LAL second rounder, but traded it in the offseason, to get Bledsoe.

I don't work for the Pistons of course. It's just fun to play GM. I think it's possible to turn this disaster around and have a decent team next season without crippling us going forward. So I'm just asking around for possibilities to see what's realistic.

It's tough to tell with our new GM, he doesn't leak information, and when/if it does get leaked, he seems to shy away from the deal. He also tends to get more out of the deal than our previous GMs. So it is difficult for us to guess what he will do. If there is a player at your spot that he loves, it is a good possibility that he would give up two picks to get that pick.
As for your wing spot, isn't Singler good? I would give up the Indy pick for him, maybe others would not, who knows?

Singler is a very solid player, but he should ideally be a backup. He isn't a knock-down shooter or great athlete. He is very smart about cutting and picks his spots to grab boards, but he can't be our long term starter. We also need a backup SG, so just a wing player period is a need.

I'd trade up in a heartbeat.
I'd give up our pick, the Wizzards pick, and MAYBE even the Indiana pick to move into the top 8.

Me too, only the Lakers pick is off-limits. The team is already fairly deep so McD could target that potential franchise player. A guy like Vonleh who is an elite rebounding prospect that can stretch the floor.

And really, we have 3 options with our picks this year:
1. Package them on draft night for a star player
2. Use them
3. Package them and trade up
I really like option 3. As you said, our roster is already loaded and even if we lose a few guys, Len and Goodwin will be in their second seasons and thus will likely be more productive (especially how both have played as late). We won't have enough minutes for 3 rookies. And acquiring a big star probably won't happen.

Re: Trade up?
Additionally, someone is going to slip to 8 in this draft.
I really like Parker and Randle. If one of them fall (or Wiggins) then I'd be ecstatic.

Randle could fall to 8 or even lower depending how he and Kentucky show in the tourney but Parker and Wiggins go top 3 barring injury. I like Randle and I want to see us draft a true power forward but for just once I'd like that true power forward to have true power forward size.
To the question at hand, yes, I'd trade up. But realistically no, there's not likely to be anyone left on the board that is any less of a gamble or with any greater of a ceiling than we'll see at our own pick. I say that because I don't see Vonleh lasting till Detroit's pick, if he does I'd take a different position.

Depending on what McD's frame of mind is, I think it's possible and might make sense.
Many fans here want to combine the picks to move up.
Personally I would rather keep our picks. I want the team to get a good wing and possibly a PF banger that can hit 3s (makes Dragic and Bledsoe's life much easier to get into paint if we can stretch floor).
So I'd like to get a wing with the first pick or a sharpshooter.....potential SF of future, and maybe a banger with our own pick that can also hit 3s like Adriean Payne.
Personally I probably wouldn't trade it.
But I think it's reasonable to think McD might. Since we also have Indy's pick, he may have a target there and may not want three rookies, and he may love a guy like Vonleh. We won't know who he likes in this draft until the pick is made.
Pretty much all the draft people that sometimes have inside info on other teams got nothing out of McD last year. Some local people even thought he liked McLemore. Only one news source leaked that we would definitely NOT be taking McLemore minutes before the draft, and not one of the likeliest sources.

Re: Trade up?
I'd package Washington's and Indiana's and also throw in our 2nd rounder if we need to.
PHASE 1: Draft Aaron Gordon with Detroits pick.
PHASE 2: Draft TJ Warren with our pick.
PHASE 3: ???????
PHASE 4: Profit!
I would then walk away from the draft ECSTATIC!

No way we get to #8 without giving up both ours and WAS pick.
On the bright side, it's pretty unclear at this point where Aaron Gordon gets drafted.

Good Lord that's a ridiculous haul to come away with. Lakers pick would be on the table in that scenario.

I'm not high on Gordon. Some people see Blake Griffin 2.0 but I see Derrick Williams with less of a jumper.

I see Shawn Marion without the shooting ability. Or a softer Dennis Rodman.
