I really hope some of you don't coach or never get to coach because the things you focus on are flat out (Please Use More Appropriate Word). You don't need one guy doing this and one guy doing that, you don't need an alpha dog and a beta dog and what not, you don't need a scorer and a facilitator. You need a group of five guys that plays to its strengths and attacks the opponent's weaknesses to keep it simple. All the other bulls*** I see in here is the media stuff some of you got caught up in.
We didn't lose the Mavs series because Wade was suddenly trying to be the leader and pushed LeBron out of the way. We lost the Mavs series because Dallas had a brilliant game plan that was designed to attack ours and we never countered properly. This game plan, amongst other things, completely took LeBron out of the game and thus, you can compliment Rick Carlisle and his staff for being this good.
Remember the Celtics round that same year? Wade and James were both averaging 25+, taking their shots and completely dominating, did anybody say "Oh hey, look, LeBron is pushing D-Wade out" or "Hey, Wade is pushing LeBron too far out, LeBron needs to be the alpha dog for the Heat to win"? No because we won, they were both playing well and murdered Boston.
It's funny how a lot of people here hate Skip Bayless, yet apply the same logic. LeBron sucked against Dallas because he couldn't figure out how to play them better but our coaching staff sucked as well and our role players didn't help the cause either. I can guarantee you, had the role-players stepped up the way Battier, Miller, Chalmers, Cole, Allen etc. have these previous season, we could've won that series as well. Had the coaching staff not been so helpless, we could've beaten them too. Had LeBron been smarter or more polished skill wise, we could've beaten them too.
Do you think it's a coincidence LeBron has added a post game and has improved his outside shooting after that series? He knew he was too predictable, despite all his talents and his big numbers and needed to become a more skilled player to help us win it all.
With all that being said, if Wade is finally healthy during this year's playoff run, you would be flat out stupid to push two players of Wade's and James' caliber into certain roles, thus limiting their talents and abilities. When one of them has it going in a game or has a mismatch, I hope we milk that cow until it's dry. Hell, if we have a series where Bosh has it going or a mismatch or is the beneficiary of a lot of plays, I hope we feed him to no end.
