DeAndre Kane ?

Post#1 » by RSCD3_ » Mon Mar 24, 2014 2:06 am

I was watching the game and he looks like a player with serious potential. Where is he slotted to be in the draft and what are his strengths/flaws.

I like his game.. he's so strong, he looks like lebron driving sometimes. I hate how is attitude though. Something about him just really rubs me the wrong way. Pro prospects.. I dont think he's a two, and he doesnt have a fast enough handle to deal with pressure from nba guards, nor the foot speed to guard them. Reminds me of Demetri mccamey from years back and is not a better prospect than a jamont gordon was, who never sniffed the league.

also.. still baffles me that gordon is not in the league

Finally understands how good he is. People on this board have been underrating him, dude has been killing it this year and he gets to the rim at will. Only problem with him is he might be too old.

He's like 34 right?
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

24, fifth year senior but who knows a big tournament can lead to guys being taken too high. Usually it's white players but he looks like someone who could be good for a veteran team in nee dof youth off the bench

Sort of like a james johnson in his role but im not comparing them as players

Gordon's shot selection was and still is atrocious (I agree he's a great creator, though). Torn ACL and 30% Euroleague FG% at age 27 ain't gonna help.

I think Kane will get drafted early in the second round by a team who is willing to take a chance on his age, but without committing to him until further review. Summer League will be huge for Kane.

Jesus, I just looked up his birthday. June 10. He will be 25 by the time of the draft. That's hardly "youth" off the bench.

He's old, yeah, but he's still a great player.

Age shouldn't be a problem. Of course because of it he doesn't have a huge ceiling or anything like that, but if I were a playoff team I would rather draft in the 2nd round a player with low ceiling that can contribute from the bench from the get go than a 20 year old player because "who knows" what might happen

He plays bully ball, should be an early 2nd round pick that could come in and contribute immediately. I do think he can play the pg, he's as strong as a bull.

I could see him being a steal for a team like the Spurs or something

I saw it was posted that he is older than James Harden who is in his 5th year in the NBA. Just puts things in perspective for you.

It wasn't just bully ball. He was great in transition, and he penetrated very well in half court sets. He's fast with the ball - his effective speed and quickness on offense is just fine for an NBA PG. Granted, being 25 years old by draft day is a draft day killer for him, but he can play in the NBA. I think people will be surprised by how long he measures. It doesn't hurt that he's the top defensive rebounding PG in the nation.

i would be surprised if he goes undrafted
there's no reason not to use a 2nd round pick on him, esp when you have established teams looking for depth and immediate impact/contributions.

earlier this season he was definitely settling for the long 3 in crunch time, but now he is really attacking the basket and showing that he can make good decisions. hoiberg was the best thing that ever happened to him. coaches with legitimate systems (ie. adelman, pop, etc) will definitely take a serious look at what kane can do for them bc he obviously knows how to follow directions.

I've been watching his tape recently and reading up on him (since he hasn't really been on my radar). But after the last tournament game, I had to take a look.

What I like about him is that what you see is what you get in the NBA. He's going to produce at almost the same level in the NBA. I think a lot of scouts are going to see that during work outs and he's going to be an early 2nd. If he produces the same as he does now, he's essentially Rajon Rondo with a three (less length though).

He's a leader, he can score in bunches, get a sneaky amount of rebounds, play defense, and he has an NBA body. The only problem is his turnovers. Could be a problem getting minutes in the NBA if he turns the ball over so much as a second round pick. If he gets farther in the tournament, I could see his stock jumping into the late first round.

Why not take him late in the first? If he is a good role player you've got him locked up in a cheap contract for four years.

well he's not even on mock draft boards to begin with
it's hard to say to use a 1st on him when you don't have to

ACTUALLY... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... li=1#gid=0

He's number 114, but he IS on draft lists. No one has him in the first round though. Why would they when he's going to be 25?
