Former Nets player found dead in shallow grave

A former Nets basketball player who’d been hounded over money recently was found buried in a shallow grave on the Far Rockaway beach Monday morning, The Post has learned.

The body of Quinton Ross, 32, was stuffed into a trash bag that was hidden in a patch of weeds midway between the water and the boardwalk at Beach 40th Street, cops said.

A law-enforcement source said he had been reported missing to the 103rd Precinct in Jamaica, Queens, on Thursday.

The 6-foot-6 guard-forward played seven seasons in the NBA, for teams including the Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards.

Cops are investigating the suspicious death of a man whose body was found buried in a shallow grave on the Far Rockaway beach Monday morning.

Initial reports that the victim is former Nets basketball player Quinton Ross are incorrect, police said.

The victim, also named Quinton Ross was stuffed into a trash bag that was hidden in a patch of weeds midway between the water and the boardwalk at Beach 40th Street, cops said.

This is very sad, I didn't want to believe this when I heard the news. And it's horrible that he was stuffed in a trash bag. This sounds really dirty, he didn't deserve to go like that.

Former NBA player: 'Tough day' being reported dead

DALLAS (AP) - Former SMU and NBA basketball player Quinton Ross had to ease the fears of friends and family members after he was erroneously reported dead.

"My phone was going crazy," he said. "I checked Facebook. Finally, I went on the Internet, and they were saying I was dead. I just couldn't believe it."

The 32-year-old Ross called loved ones and posted on Facebook to "let everybody know I was OK."

"A couple (relatives) already heard it," he said. "They were crying. I mean, it was a tough day, man, mostly for my family and friends."

As for the other Quinton Ross, I don't know his story, but my thoughts and prayers are with his family.
