You're right, I was kind of all over the place.

I just thought it was crazy that months ago we were all debating on if Graham was worth 10 mil a year and now Peppers is getting that from us.

My point was if we are going to give 10 mil a year to a player, I guess we were wrong about Graham. Yes, it would be more guaranteed money....however that wouldn't be an issue because Graham is still in his prime and would (barring injury) earn his $$. However, I agree that as the market inflates that 10 mil a year to Graham becomes more like 13-15 mil a year which is insane for a TE.

Excuse my post, I just get sick of seeing everyone rip on each other's post and belittling them for their opinion. You post your favorite color is black and everyone says how stupid you are for not picking green.

Without debating, here is my question:

Knowing we need defense and are fine on offense:

If we could spend 10 mil on one free agent, would you rather spend it on adequate defensive player or a pro bowl offensive player?

For instance next year would you rather have one of Dez Bryant, DeMaryius Thomas/Graham (in their prime) or Vince Wilfork (aging and injured)?

Is defense such a strong need that you would take a lesser defensive player over a better offensive player?

I have to consider the question myself.

Profound, no one wants to add Graham more than me. But your comparison is so weird to me.

We're simply not talking about $10 million in a year for Graham. My guess is at the end of the day you're looking at $30 million guaranteed, an average per year salary of at least $11 million AND the two first round picks you'd be giving New Orleans because he was tagged.

So why even discuss Graham? He flat out isn't remotely realistic.

Ok, leaving Graham out.

What I am saying:

We all think we need to upgrade the defense and the offense is fine. We all agree that we need to spend money on defense over offense. However, what if we had the choice between two free agents. One being a stud offensive player in his prime, the other being a stud defensive player past his prime who may have 2 years left in the tank.

Player A: Stud offensive player, 27 or 28

Player B: Stud defensive player, 34

Who do you take?

I'm taking the one that exists in real life.

Are the contracts the exact same or are they completely different like in the case of Graham and Peppers?

If we could get Graham on the same deal we got Peppers on, obviously I would take Graham. If Graham gets $12-$15 million a year over a six year span, then I'd rather have Peppers on what basically amounts to a one year deal.

Yeah I am talking about two things:

One being inflation in NFL contracts because of the new TV deals

Two being how we (myself included) are so worried about upgrading the defense that most fans seem to accept lower tiered defensive players over higher tiered offensive players. This is how the Packers drafted Vonnie Holliday over Randy Moss.

Been going through a rough couple of weeks with my ten year old in the hospital so excuse me for my ramblings being all over the place.
