I posted a thread around December 2009/January 2010 on trades and transactions of a trade that would send Marcus Camby to the Blazers for Steve Blake and Travis Outlaw. Shortly after, it happened :o

"So it was when Warriors media relations director Raymond Ridder, signed on as "The Flunkster Dude," was detected defending new general manager Larry Riley on the blog site WarriorsWorld after a conference call with season-ticket holders. He got far less than the desired result."

Also, I'll bet more then a few NBA GMs found out about realgm's trade checker back in the day and used it quite often as a quick check to see if a deal was even feasible. Kudos to realgm and their trade checker.

I've always suspected that around half the warriors fans on the trade board are directly in the pay of management. You don't get stuff like old rem's "Nelly has got this team playing 0.500 ball, it just hasn't shown up in the standings yet" without someone cashing a pay-cheque.

There was an incident a few years back in the playoffs where a bench player for the Wiz, Juan Dixon I think, announced after a rare good game that he'd been motivated by reading a 20 page "Juan Dixon is an ovverated scrub" thread on realgm. So I guess calling out your players sometimes works...

The Juan Dixon thread was actually called "the amazingly sucky Juan Dixon thread". I think it was during the playoffs against Cleveland, he had been playing horribly up to that point. IIRC he said that he went straight to the gym and put up 500 shots to prepare for the next game and it paid off. I think he scored 35 points.

Pistons fans wished Joe Dumars read realGM, then he would have never signed Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings.

Most fans are dumb but some are smart. I know on the Wiz board there are a lot of really knowledgeable posters who I'd probably rather have running the team than Ernie Grunfeld.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

I am not suprised at all. Players also read here from time to time. I know in the past Orlando Magic local beat writer Brian Schmitz (we hate him) has stolen ideas that have been posted on the board. A trade proposal or a topic would be posted, and mysteriously a day or 2 later an article written by him would appear paraphrasing the same. Lazy bum.

A smart GM would have an assistant working these boards and only presenting him with the good ideas. GM's can't possibly have time to browse through all the garbage.

We're all owed money for our ideas if true.

Class action lawsuit, guys?
