Bears sign JARED ALLEN!

Post#1 » by Chaomino » Wed Mar 26, 2014 12:51 pm

Bears have agreed to terms with DE Jared Allen on a four-year contract.

Pretty damn good add for the team. Lets see if he can keep it up at least 2 years.

After he didnt strike a deal with the Seahawks after the second meeting with them I had a feeling we were strongly involved with him.

Two years is exactly what I'm thinking. I have a probably irrational fear he's ready to drop off now though.

Only 12 million guaranteed. Pretty low-risk, really. So this shouldn't be a Peppers 2.0, hopefully.

When Cutler restructured his contract it instantly came Allen to my mind.

This makes the Houston signing even better. Needed a guy to attract double teams.

Still hoping for that Donald kid from Pitt.

Emery is really trying to make this team a contender. I'm excited about this signing and I can't wait for the draft.

Well he was not surrounded by much in Minny. That said, he looked blockable last year anecdotally speaking. I should add the word "relatively". For him.

He is a bit old, but he should give us significantly better production than Peppers did last year. Our DL is completely revamped and should be far better.

Should.

I'm actually more hopeful about Willie Young getting better. Yes I have nothing to back that up. But I'm happy.

With Allen at least you can be sure his motor will stay high. Unlike peppers, who was often accused of not even trying last year.

I hate this signing. Not from a talent or capability standpoint, but from a IHATETHISDUDE standpoint. There actually hasn't been a player in the NFL I disliked more than him over the last 5 or so years. So, just like the Dennis Rodman signing (I never warmed up to that idiot) I don't think I'll be on board with this anytime soon.

But it helps the team.

jared allen is impressive.

Just from listening to him in the press conference.

The Bears need somebody with outward enthusiasm on the field. I appreciate flamboyant people as long as they produce.

You'll get over it when you see him break Rodgers in half ;-)

The sheer size of these guys is fearsome. When I was a kid getting hit wasn't so bad. And even when it hurt I could shake it off. And sometimes when a QB is hit you shrug your shoulders. Ive never been hit by a sasquatch however. ...

He's smaller than Julius Peppers. But a little more than 2 years younger

IMO he will put up 13-15 sacks in our scheme with our talent. I also think this helps Shea quite a bit and we will see him blitzing alot.

Allen is a true pro and I like what he will be able to do in teaching our young guys how to prepare, learn in game, etc.

Please let Jared Allen be the missing piece for the Bears.

If Dennis Rodman drove a truck, he'd give all the refs a ride!
