It's generally a can't miss approach to amateur scouting, as Rougned Odor would attest.

I'm guessing the Trout comps which get tossed around are ridiculously hyperbolic, but I'd also wager that we'd have some interest in Gettys if he's around at 9-11.

Absolutely. Gettys would likely be one of our top targets if he was there at either of those two picks. He fits everything the Jays love.

Some of the assignments are now being reported by players on twitter.

So far I've seen:

Buffalo
Stroman

NH
McGuire
Tony Davis
Michael Crouse
John Anderson

Dunedin
Justin Jackson
Ben White

Lansing
Chase DeJong
Derrick Loveless

Obviously a lot will change between now and then, but most rankings/mocks I've seen have him available at 9.

Regardless who we take, the draft as a whole should be massive for us with the cap we'll be working with.

Interested to see if Tellez gets the jump to Lansing as some have suggested. Would be a welcome change for us if we were a bit more aggressive.

Chris King was fairly complimentary with what he saw a week or two back from him.

Although if Dantzler doesn't go straight to Dunedin, then it's gonna be crowded with corner infielders already with him, Nay and Dean.

I'm also curious if Burns would start back at NH or perhaps get the bump to Buffalo.

That makes sense but I wasn't sure if they had been super aggressive with him.

They may... but at least to start the year, it's highly unlikely they would skip AA.

If he does well out of the gate, they've definitely shown little resistance in rushing other guys up from AA... Which is odd given how stubborn they are about moving guys at a snail's pace through the lower minors, it definitely seems a bit backwards.

Yep; you can teach someone to be good at baseball. You can't teach them to have an outstanding name.

No kidding. Drives me nuts...we take it so slow in the low minors that they end up Rule 5 eligible/within a year of eligibility by the time they reach AA, and then we rush 'em.
