also, in case you missed the WT.....Andrew Wiggins has officially declared for the NBA draft.

I rather gamble on LaVine. And Clint Capela declared too.

Here's a good link to who has declared for the draft. It's updated quickly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_NBA_draft

what's everyone's thoughts on James Young
from what I've read, and from the little I've seen him play, I'd be pretty happy if the Sixers got him with the Pelicans pick. Could see him being a nice 3 and D SG with MCW and Wiggins

Streaky but good potential. Not my favorite choice at 12.

Looks like we will be forced with the question of: Do we take a project at 12, or a more developed kid with decent starter upside???

guys like Young,LaVine,Capella,Nurkic are all likely projects.

guys like Stauskas,Payne,Anderson might not have the "potential" label, or athletic freaks needing to develop there ball skills label.....but could all we solid, solid pros for the future.

if we need a wing my personal order would be:
Anderson,Stauskas,LaVine

if we need a big:
Montrezl Harrell,Capela.Payne

Zach LaVine would be a steal for the Sixers with the Pelicans pick. Super athletic and good shooter. Imagine what the Sixers coaching staff could do with him. I see him now as a Klay Thompson and Ben McLemore type of player and could hopefully become a Ray Allen. I'm suprised he's not more popular on this board. I remember a lot of people liked Ben McLemore last year which I feel like their identical players coming in. I know he's raw and unproven but so was Jrue. I just hope he'll be available with our pick because I can easily see him rise up the board.

Lavine wasn't highly regarded out of high school. Pretty crazy he could be a lottery pick after one season where he didn't even perform very well lol

McLemore bombing is probably why many are uneasy on Lavine

That's true, read somewhere that McLemore is having a comparable rookie season to Austin Rivers.

If the Pelicans pick is 12 I would rather a project wing (LaVine, Capella). We still have Jason Richardson at the 2 and can mentor them.

I dunno about STEAL. He would even possibly be a bit of a reach at 12, but i can see the justification in it solely based on his "potential".

While his speed, quickness in the open floor and athletic ability are special, he's got a lot to learn as a basketball player....and has to gain like 20+ lbs to even think about trying to guard some of the wings in the NBA.

id be fine with him....but i think he's a boom/bust type of pick....he could be terrence ross or he could be out of the league in a few years.

Wow, what a game. Aaron Harrison is ridiculously clutch.

Super athletic and has the potential to be a very good shooter is the correct way to describe Lavine, since in the sum total of this year, and especially near the end, he shot very poorly. Kid needs to build up his body quite a bit and is clearly not ready, yet came out. To some extent I question the kid's judgment and willingness to do what it takes to develop that talent into skill. His Dad was going on about how they weren't going to let him be wht he wanted to be at UCLA. An inflated ego and an underperforming talent are usually a terrible combination. I would not take him with the 12th pick, but maybe in the early 20's if you move up and want to gamble the risk reward ratio is much different.

I think given the depth of this draft the Pelicans pick needs to be a guy who is at least a solid 10 year starter or top reserve guy. It is not a pick to go all potential on, enough of those guys will slide till later in the draft that you can grab one then. I'm not saying you take a senior or junior here necessarily, but after the workouts and interviews and watching all of the tape is done, the team needs a really solid asset to emerge from the 12th pick. Not every player is going to be an all-star, and given the way the salary cap/tax works, that is probably a good thing or you end up in a Harden situation.

And if I was going to go with a higher risk player with the Pelicans' pick, it would be for someone with size, not a skinny wing with upside of which there are about a dozen in this draft.

I'm still pulling for Kyle Anderson if he's on the board for the Pels pick. 6'8" versatile SF with outstanding length (7'3" wingspan, 9' standing reach). He's a walking triple-double threat with potential to be rock-solid defensively. Oh, and he shot 50% from downtown this year.

Also worth noting, in addition to his two years at UCLA, he comes from an outstanding high-school program at St Anthony's playing under Bob Hurley Sr. He's a heady player on the court with more than sufficient talent and physical tools to be an impact player at the next level.

Hoping their great play leads the twins to declare. Like to get more talent in this draft, give Hinkie more opportunity to score big

I think the likely sixers top 11 or 12 have declared except for Randle and Parker.

I agree, I mean to add more talent that pushes guys to our second rounders, or we get more value when we move back into the draft or up from the second rd

Great way of thinking that 2nd round should be loaded I hope Jakaar Sampson from St Johns is there.
