Blanks was an idiot.
Wanted Felton over Dragic.
Not only did he make Beasley his top priority but he signed him to an utterly idiotic contract. The T-Wolves could not give Beasley away when he was an EXPIRING 6 million dollar contract and Blanks signs him to that rate over 3 years... f'ing idiotic.
Kendall Marshall. A point guard who could not average double digits in college getting taken in the lotto. He is putting up numbers right now in D'Antoni's system, but they're empty stats and the Lakers are getting slaughtered night in and night out. Despite his pretty stats he has actually been one of the Lakers worst rotation players this season.
http://www.82games.com/1314/1314LAL.HTMRobin Lopez shipped off for a highly protected first round pick that we will likely never receive (it turns into second round after a few seasons). Somehow people are counting this as a win for him. Lopez is a no stud, but a quality center in a league with very few of them.
Traded Goran Dragic AND a first round pick for the horribly awful, embarrassing pile of trash Aaron Brooks. At the time of the trade Brooks was shooting 34% and had recently been suspended by the Rockets for showing up his coach. We traded a younger and much better player and somehow tossed in a 1st round pick too. Astonishing.
Held onto Nash too long. We were circling the drain for 2 seasons and we wouldnt trade two guys over 35. Yeah, we ended up getting a late first and a future first for Nash, had we traded him in 2011 we probably could have gotten a bonanza. We got nothing for Grant Hill.
Shannon Brown. That is all.
How on earth did last year's team do basically nothing at the deadline? It was an awful team going no where and the only change they made was to fire their coach and replace him with someone even worse.
I am not sure how time has made the turd that is Lance Blanks somehow get some polish to it. In roughly three years we can look back and say he got us a decent backup power forward (Morris), and Tucker, a hustle defense guy signed out of the European league. Those two minor pluses do very little to overcome a long line of awful moves. With each passing year Blanks created a worse team, and not only worse but a product that became brutal to watch, culminating in arguably the worst season in franchise history.
So no. Blanks was not slightly under-rated. He was an unequivical disaster. **** him. McD did more positive things for this team in his first three months than Blanks did in 3 years.
