Honestly he hasn't looked all that bad out there but he hasn't really seen much playing time to get an accurate feel of him. Let's see how things play out. I think as long as he isn't getting torched left and right defensively I think it should be ok as long as either he's paired with Harden or Lin. We already know he can shoot.

I'm not too optimistic. Granted he hasn't played many minutes to justify it either way, I don't think he's been particularly good in his spot minutes either, besides the 2nd quarter last night v. the Sixers. And that was literally against a d-league squad. I will admit though that he pressured MCW well, forcing him to 2 TOV's. He wasn't good in that fourth quarter though...

I agree we should see what we got, but I just don't see him being anything other than a liability in the post-season. McHale didn't even play TJones in last years playoffs even though Jones was having some solid games to end the regular season. Maybe we run with Harden as backup PG and someone like Garcia getting back in the rotation?

PG - Lin (34) - Harden (14)
SG - Harden (26) - Hamilton (16) - Garcia (6)
SF - Parsons (38) - Garcia (10)
PF - Jones (32) - DMo (16)
Cc - Howard (36) - Asik (12)

Something like that...maybe? I don't know.

Just start Parsons at PG. Jones at SF, D-Mo at PF.
Asik, Lin and Hamilton are the bench, That's your 8 man playoff rotation.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Telfair and McHale have good history in Minnesota
Image
-“Guys want him back, especially me,” Telfair said. “I feel when he came in, we started playing basketball the right way.”

Telfair played in 135 games for Minny and started 94 of them. McHale signed him to a 3 year deal when he was the GM.

You mean start Canaan??? Even less likely to to be a starter, not sure if serious.

Unless they sign some guard not in the league right now, i wouldn't have Canaan run the 2nd unit. At least with Harden being there, he can help take pressure off Canaan somewhat.

But we have no idea if he can guard the opposing starting PG. (probably not) We do know that he's undersized. Not a very good idea IMO. Probably better to get TJ to run the 2nd unit. And in the playoffs we don't need to play so many guys. If Canaan can't run the 2nd unit, Harden as backup PG would probably be better.

*EDIT: BTW, anyone has a video of what happened? Otherwise can someone describe it a lil?

Rox fans, just wanted to drop in here and say sorry to hear about this. I'm not a fan of Bev for obvious reasons, and didn't think the play was dirty last year (though the one a few weeks ago I frankly did, but that's off topic). I'm still sorry to hear he's hurt, and hope he can return ASAP. I don't expect it, but if any OKC fans are trolling on this, feel free to PM me as well as reporting them, I don't think it will be an issue, but will make sure of it. Most of the gen board trolls aren't guys I see on the team forum, just regular GB trolls. Sorry to hear about the loss and best of luck.

The PG doesn't really run the system, the players all have an active role in it. Canaan certainly didn't look lost in it or anything (since RGV run the same system more or less). Although for those times we don't get a good look and the shot clock is winding down it does help to have that PnR option as a fallback, but remember that Parson can also run PnR very well.

then they should find a defensive minded pt guard off waivers or in europe...i wouldn't want canaan running the show in the 2nd unit...they will likely end up finding another pt. guard.

Beverley said he's sure he'll play again this season, he doesn't feel any pain, nor does he have any swelling.

Mark Berman @MarkBermanFox26

I like Beverley's attitude, but he really should be looking out for #1. Not to be negative, but chances of Rockets winning it all, even with everyone healthy, is pretty slim, imo.

Beverley has a bright future ahead of him...if he rushes things to come back early and jeopardizes his long term...that would be a foolish mistake. Again, I applaud his loyalty, but pro basketball is a business...a player sacrifices his body one day only to get traded or shoved to the end of the bench the very next day.

Good news about Bev, but I still don't want him to rush it. 10 regular season games left. He can sit most of those.

Haha what 10 days to 4 weeks? Could that timetable be any more vague?

I say just sit him until at least until the playoffs. That's about 3 weeks. He can work off the rust in practice where there's less chance of re-injury. If still not healthy I think we'll be ok if we face POR in the 1st round which seems very likely to be the case, and possibly vs SA too (but that would be 4 wks already) since Lin has been pretty effective vs these teams since they don't really have an elite rim protector, but we really really need Bev vs OKC and LAC if we actually face them in the playoffs.

It'll be funny if he's back by Friday...early as hell like when he had that rib injury at the beginning of the season.
