We already have
Josh Smith
Brandon Jennings
Now Lance stephenson???
Sorry but I wouldnt want to overpay a 3rd player with bad basketball iq and who has locker room issue.
It'd be the trifecta of the disaster...
Edit : Guess the topic changed???
Anyways I would consider gordon hayward if we could get him for a 54/4 unfortunately smith is taking that kind of money

No. He's crazy, he can't shoot, and we'd have to seriously overpay to get him here when he isn't even a great fit.

Re: Should we offer for Gordon Hayward? How much?
Considering that Hayward is a RFA, we would have to offer him more than his market value- specifically to Utah.
It would probably take an offer of something like 4-years, starting at $11.5 million with raises. Something like 4/47- roughly that range.
Is he worth that price? I'm not sure. But, I believe that is the size of the contract you would have to offer to motivate Utah to decline matching. Even then, possibly not.

If we can move Smith, we should offer him a big fat deal. He'd be a perfect SF for us.

We have a better chance of landing Parker or Wiggins than getting Hayward to leave Utah.

Rather just ride with singler and see how he pans out then give him a big contract.

Couldn't Utah sign and trade? In that case you'd have to offer more than any other team is willing to pay or be prepared to do that sign and trade yourself.
To answer the question, no, I don't think he's worth that.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Rumor is Hayward is looking at over $70 mil 5 year contract from Utah. This is out of the Pistons price range.

I feel sorry for whatever franchise pays him that kind of money. He's definitely not worth that kind of money.

Well, he is asking 5 years $80 mil, but I bet he gets 5 years $50-60 in the end.

If Dumars still remains our GM i could see him offering this kind of contract

On the other side the chance is minimal that Dumars is still with us.

That's right! Fans of this team know all too well about the consequences of overpaying. I'd gladly swap Smith and Hayward at the same salary though- simply because I like GH's skill set and personality, opposed to the chucker/sulker Smith.

I'd rather overpay Hayward than overpay Monroe
