After 5 years years of re-tooling, expectations to be competitive, and barren arenas it was really time for Dumars to put up or shut up.

Yeah, that's true. I can't argue with the truth.

Yes, he was very, very good. He was not on Kobe or Wade's level.

....So far what I've learned in this thread is that Oden was as good as Duncan coming out of college, and if you say Roy wasn't as good as Kobe it offends people

Oh and Pritchard built an inevitable dynasty in Portland that never won a playoff series

That being said, I'm not sure CB is who I'd want to pull us out of this mess.

Or he's big timing and simply just read this article like everybody else -

Thomas has officially been out of the NBA since 2008, though he not-so-secretly was an adviser to Knicks owner Jim Dolan for years. With Phil Jackson taking over in New York and Thomas' influence there essentially at an end, sources say that Thomas has been campaigning to find a role with the Pistons or Cavaliers, who fired their general manager in February.

Whether those feelings will be returned is yet to be seen, as both Gores and Cavs owner Dan Gilbert, both Detroit natives, have a relationship with Thomas, but the Pistons and the Cavs really have their eye on another soon-to-be former Piston.

Chauncey Billups, who is likely headed toward his own retirement after knee surgery ended his season, is the apple of both the Cavs' and Pistons' eye for a role in their respective franchise's leadership. While there might be some interest in getting Billups to follow in contemporary Jason Kidd’s footsteps and go right from player to coach, Billups has been hinting openly for years he’d rather graduate to the front office at the end of his career.

That's pretty much what Windhorst said on Dery's radio show Monday too. I didn't know he had written an article about it days earlier.

Its interesting to hear the Pistons are that serious about Chauncey. I have a hard time seeing him choose the Cavs over the Pistons though, if both offer the same job. So I don't know what kind of competition they really pose. Chauncey has basically been campaigning for the Pistons job all year. Every time he talks its either about how much he loves Detroit, how he wants to be a GM, or he's giving his advice on whats wrong with the current team.

It would be the ultimate payback for Joe trading him. Coming back and stealing his job lol

Oden was the best C prospect since perhaps Shaq. Him getting injured was a basketball tragedy.

I don't totally disagree with your point Q00, but Oden and Roy were excellent.

Spot on

Significantly better.

Yeah, this was on Dumars.

:wavefinger: Well it's easy to call someone dumb when they make unreasonable expectations, fire a head coach during mid-season, and then expect playoffs with the youngest starting 5 in the league(while KCP started). Maybe calling Gores dumb was a bit harsh, but if someone believes in all that he/she probably isn't the smartest when it comes to basketball. We're all different though, so your view of a person is more than likely different from mines bro.

Remember Finn, I'm talking about Gores mental from a basketball perspective. Gores is probably brilliant when it comes to business.

Yes, I do look at Gores differently. I would agree with others about his lack of knowledge of front office procedures. I would bet that his networking around the NBA has become more established. He needed time to build relationships there before he let Joe go. I wish he had more savvy in that department when he first bought the team. Maybe because I am a little biased, it is my opinion that joe has a lot of free reign... minus the Cheeks firing, which I feel was a symbol of things to come... a new regime and joe's dismissal.
