German National Football Team Thread (Nationalmannschaft)

Post#1 » by LittleOzzy » Wed Apr 2, 2014 4:50 pm

The fan base for the German Bundesliga is growing everyday here on RealGM, so I thought it was time to add a thread for the National Team of Germany before we get into the World Cup.

Hopefully it takes off.

We seldom had a better team and especially Schweinsteiger and Lahm do deserve it for the legacy.

But I do think Spain and Brasil could have a word in that.

Not one left back or striker scenario here i'm fully comfortable with. The most difficult thing about this team is picking it. So many players of similar calibre, so many stylistic options. When i started typing, my sole intention was to post a starting 11 and i cannot settle on one.

Nationalmannschaft - your best bet for second and third places since 2002 :D

The problem is that soccer also requires a stout defense, and the current NT is sorely lacking. We need guys like Sammer, Kohler, Buchwald or Helmer, gritty vets who are impossible to score on.

If we stick with a striker it has to be Kruse. He's been exhausted this second half, but he'd fit beautiful with our starters and has already got some caps. Still think we should just not play with a stiker and let both Ozil and Kroos play between Reus and Muller.

Then stick Lars at FB and give Jantschke a run out during the pre-WC camp cause he's having a massive season.

You mean like Arbeloa, Pique, Ramos, Alba, and Biscuits?

sometimes it feels like these holland teams all over again. dying in grace, you could say. beatiful on the offensive side but always lacking on the defensive end. that will get you far, but in most cases you wont be able to hold the trophy in your hand. i surely hope, this wont be the case with this generation.
too many urkels on your team, that's why your wins low

I wouldn't count on that, Özil will never be seen in a big game.

Seriously, he's a big enough choker to play for Bayern...

Most likely starting XI I think:

________________Neuer________________
Lahm____Hummels_Boateng___Schmelzer
____Schweinsteiger_______Bender______
_Muller__________Ozil___________Reus_
_______________Kruse________________

The one I'd like to see though (likely NEVER happen)

______________Neuer_________________
_____Hummels___Mert___Boateng_____
_______Kroos_____Schweinsteiger_____
Lahm___________Ozil__________Reus___
_______________Muller_______________
_______________Kruse________________

Sort of like a 3-5-1-1. Unlikely I know, Lowe has tried 3 at the back though.

I don't think Kruse will be a starter. He was awesome in the first half of the season but relatively poor since. There is no way Löw will let him start over Götze/Klose/Gomez

I seen him dominate england and argentina in the KO rounds last world cup :dontknow:

and It's not just him thats a no show when they get eliminated. Too many guys getting a pass that are no shows for germany when it matters too.

there was a time when Juventus had it's own thread with active posters other than myself. There was a time when I was not the only Italian around here. There was a time when Massimo pretended to be Italian.

I'm getting lonely, guys, and when I can't bare it any longer I will come to post here...is that cool?

I know I'm supposed to take **** about Italians but I've met a few fans of the azzurri who've made it hard to be sufficiently patriotic. As long as you don't screw us up again you're more than welcome as far as I'm concerned.

Since we're talking about the future 2014 Europa League champions, I guess I'll give it a go. The old guys like Black Mamba, Alez, tkb, etc...rarely--if ever--visit the site, but heck with it FORZA JUVE

Thank you kind sir.
I absolutely do not want Italy to meet Germany again this summer. My Italian eyes see both teams evenly matched, and although things have gone our way lately, the trend just seems unlikely to continue.

I remember Löw trying 3 defenders a couple of times and it failed miserably. It's just not easy to adapt to a formation like that, if you have never played it on club level before.
I think the only player who might make the WC who knows how to play like this is Mustafi.
