Well okay, the Nene recovery is a tough thing to handle, but on the other hand it provides an opportunity for developing bigs Booker and especially Seraphin to get time on court and develop their utility, working their way through struggles and gaining experience.
Okay GMEG may do something pointless like sign the no-defense Gooden -- though I have to think reports were premature, that this was an initial discussion of a panic move with the idea that Nene would be out for the season.
Still for those who wanted Witt to play his bench plaeyrs and allow young talent time to develop, well okay it comes too late for Vesely, but Seraphin could surely use some seasoning. And he shows some signs of improvement in stretches. I've seen defense and timely rebounds in instances, would like to see him string a few together. Granted Seraphin's development could be once again the thing upon which Grunfeld's job hinges: if he plays well, then hey GMEG actually found one; if he plays poorly and we see Gooden as a real option to steal his PT -- well there's no chance of playoff success with that formula and a ahrd road to wins before then. So GMEG's failures will be held in a starker light.
So win/win. We develop a capable young big, or "injuries are no excuse" and perhaps we get an upgrade in the front office.

Re: We're gonna kick some tail from now on (Optimism thread)
POSTING a REMINDER: This is the "Say Nice Things About The Wizards" thread. Plenty of other threads for complaints and bitchery. These are all the reasons we are going to kick ass, get better, improve, and ultimately dominate. Or at least be fun to watch. Happy that we have made the playoffs, been a long time coming, and you never know we could get feisty and surprise some people. I love that we are rebuilding our relationship with our squad, our home court starting to sound loud rowdy and proud to out shout the transplants and antifans. Love that the team sis tarting to understand what it could mean to play here with a winning squad and how ready this City is to claim them and talk smack on their behalf. Personally I'm excited for the playoffs and am willing to drop the gimlet-eyed realism and rational thought about the teams future until after we see how this squad performs when we hit the post season. Ultimately its not all that complex, not too tough, the only thing you want to your team to do is to make the playoffs, and then win the final game they play. That's not impossible right? You never know.

List all your reasons here, rational or not, why this squad is going to kick ass in the post season.
I'll get you started:
Because it's about damn time to kick some ass.
Because Otto Porter actually played a game today and looked good.
Because John Wall. Johnny MFn Wall. Johnny Ballgame.
Because hey impossible things happen: Drew Gooden even plays defense for us, and hits threes instead of long twos.
Because Nene will come back rested and eager.
Because Gortat and Ariza are in a contract year and the over the hill gang are playing for their NBA lives, and Because there is more rest between games in the postseason.
Now you. Superman that ho.

I think we can safely put aside criticism (i.e. objective analysis) for the night, and just be happy to see the Wizards make it to the post-season. It's been a lot of years.
Congratulations to the players and the franchise -- and to the fun gang of patient if frustrated fans here, who care enough to give their precious time to this team.
Go Wizards!

we'll have a fighter's chance as long as we don't face MIA. IND is falling fast but
could just as quickly turn it around. But it's possible they 'peaked too soon".
Then beating MIA last week was their final Hurrah. Or not.
But we could beat any of CHI, BRK, or TOR. Not saying we will but it wouldn't
be a shocker. Either way.

A lot of what we call 'thought' is just mental activity

I think the 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5 series should be very good ones in the East. The 1 v 8 will be an easy sweep. I think even with their struggles Indy gets past the 7 seed pretty easily.

I think if we have Nene back we match up well with Miami. Our single game against them with him in the line up suggests this was well. LeBron is not a fan of driving in against big front lines, Ariza can play him straight up and shave a point or two off his averages, and Nene hedges well the P&R making it tricky to run plays on the exterior, this shifts responsibility to Bosh to make that long jumper and force our squad to mark him, but while nice Bosh is not the MVP.
If John is running well and Beal is on one of his occasional hot streaks (if he is rounding into form after his recent slump and has reliably figured out what was dogging him) then we can scare them, win some games, and you never know. Neither are we but Miami is not all that deep behind their starting line-up. Never know.
Personally I'd LOVE to meet MIami in either round, win or lose it would be fun to generate a good friendly competitive hate for that squad.
