1. I'll reiterate what I said earlier we didn't lose HCA tonight. We lost it in 2013 and there are some games you can point to in 2014 as well. Either way if we won we'd still be 1.5 game back with both of them owning the tie breaker against us. Each of them only has 1 game left against a winning team Bulls at Washington Saturday, Raptors at home against the Pacers Friday - both winnable games for the Bulls and Raps.

2. We do need KG - I don't get why people think he won't make a difference. He averaged 13.7 rebounds a game last year in the playoffs. This team can desperately use that. His DRB% is 31.9%, Plumlee and Blatche are 19.4% and 19.3%. We can't continue to give up 2nd chance because Plumlee doesn't box out and Blatche can't be bothered with rebounding. Granted we beat the Bulls without KG but in the two losses prior KG was the only player in both those games with a positive +\- . He is also always talking on defense and provides great help defense. We've also seen a number of big men have big nights in KG's absence. He's our best defender we need that.

And assuming that everything is okay when he comes and his minutes can be increased rather quickly like AK coming back from back spasms play this man 25-30 minutes a game in the playoffs damnit Kidd. What are you saving him for his retirement speech? He played every minute of both overtimes against the Heat back in January logging 36 minutes. So this man can play 36 minutes in a January regular season game but not crack 20 minutes in the playoffs? FOH Kidd.

3. What a huge difference in basketball iq there is between AK and AA. AK will be welcomed back and should take all of AA's minutes although Kidd has some sorta weird infatuation with AA. And AK start shooting hundreds of free throws everyday your missed free throws will hurt this team in the playoffs.

4. Relating to last night. I know people love to unjustly rag on him but Melo is a good defender, the best defender on the Knicks. The Knicks put Melo their best defender on Johnson most of the game knowing his size would give Johnson some fits. There were times when THJR, a poor defender, was Pierce. In that situation Pierce needs to look to be aggressive and score. He played passively last night. That's not the reason we lost, but if Johnson and Pierce are both held in check its going to be a rough night.

I'm still confident we're going to win our 1st round series. This team being healthy is more important than HCA to me. Yes we have a terrible road record, but what's even worse is how we play on back to backs. The team is 2-9 on the road on the 2nd game of a back to back this season. That's abysmal. Rest between games will be huge.

Agree with all.

No they don't.
Cleveland, Pacers, Nets, Heat and Bobcats are not easy at all.
Hawks likely go 1-4 in these games alone and possibly 0-5.

Ehhh a little misleading:
- The Heat game is the 3rd to last game of the season for the Heat and they could be resting players.
- The Bobcats game is the 2nd to last game of the season for both. The bobcats will likely be locked into the 7th seed.
- Pacers are 2-6 in their last 8. Look pretty beatable
-Cavs could go either way
-Nets - with 4 games left; we could very easily be looked into 5/6 seed be resting guys.

Who knows this late in the season who knows what teams will be playing for. They could go 2-3 or 3-2 in those games. They should grab 3 W's against Milwaukee, Detroit and Boston so:
5-3, 6-2

Cavs could go 6-0 in their remaining 6 games:
@Atlanta
Detroit
Milwaukee
Boston
Brooklyn - will be resting guys

Might be a little too far out of it. Should be interesting the Knicks road is tough the Raptors and Bulls are still battling each other for the 3 seed and you guys have them 3 more times. Plus Miami and Washington Friday.

I think it's close to 50/50 for the Knicks. Either way there's 100% chance they'd lose to Heat in 5 games or less

Don't act like your hiatus from the Nets board wasn't a period of deliberating between us and the Blazers.

I know you've maxed out your credit card buying LMA posters.

I've said this all season long. Imagine if he gets the 3 year extension. He's been crap for awhile.

The good old Nets go on a winning streak then finally lose so it's all over for the playoffs end thread

Seeing the reaction after losses have entertained me since the New Year.

i think this is an overreaction. i think his play style makes it easier to get down on him when he is playing poorly cause of the boneheaded stuff. but i mean

11 points 5 rebounds in 22 minutes with a 19 PER is really good for a backup center.

In limited minutes and with the pressure of being of benched asap, Blatche is good player to have.

His talent greatly exceeds his BBIQ which opinions of him are so volatile. One game it seems like he puts it all together and has a great performance. The next game he comes out and is just a walking turnover and needs to be benched.

The key is maximizing his positive attributes and minimizing the negatives.

Blatche should never be the #1 option on the floor. Too often Kidd throws out lineups that have only bench players and we basically have to pray that they don't let the game get out of control because you have people who aren't even the 3rd option on the team making decisions about how to score each time down the floor.

That's why I shake my head when I see these lineups of AA/Thornton/AK/Tele/Blatche. We're not the Spurs. For the other 29 teams, you should have at least 2 starters on the court at all times, so the bench players can do the one or two things that they specialize in, while the starters handle the most of the work of running the team and making sure things run smoothly.

If Kidd continues to trot out these lineups in the playoffs, you're going to see big leads get blown or tight games get blown wide open because (our bench players who are not supposed to be trying to carry an offense on their own for 4+ minutes at a time) end up trying to do too much against the opposition's starters and then we get smashed.

If Blatche is the backup center and is at best the 2nd option on the court when he plays, I think he's fine because the #1 option can always demand the ball from him when he starts doing idiotic crap on offense. And if he's a turd on defense, Kidd can bench him for that.

Unfortunately, with no Brook, KG, or AK, we were basically forced to have Plumlee and Blatche always on the floor and Blatche can't be benched when he ought to be because there's no other big man to take his spot other than Plumlee.

His stats don't do him justice on the defensive end. He can't guard anyone inside and his PnR Defense is horrible. We've lost leads to New Orleans, Charlotte with him on the floor.

It became a layup line for Amare, Shumpert with him on the floor and when Mirza went to cover his bad defense, we left wide open shooters which is how the lead went from 9 to 15 in 3 minutes.

I don't want him to leave but he's not showing signs of a focused and hungry player like last year and it will only get worse. Kidd already banished him late December after his piss poor effort on Christmas. He hasn't changed a bit on that end of the floor since.

Your detailed post from earlier today was outstanding & spot on.

1. You are 1000% correct - if BOTH JJ & Paul are not scoring, "Houston, we have a problem!"

At times, my favorite player of all time totally baffles me & PISSES ME OFF. Paul has had a fabulous season as per the detailed advanced stats I have recently posted in a couple of threads. Since his hand fracture healed on or about 12/1/2013, he has shot ~47%/42%/63 TS%, & in 3/2014, he shot a PHENOMENAL ~51%/47%/69 TS% - including 2 "beyond phenomenal" games where he scored 22 points with TS% greater than 100 **** % VS Cleveland & Minny JUST A FEW **** DAYS AGO. In Monday's win VS Houston, he was very quiet - but it did not matter because Joe had one of his best overall games of the season. But during last night's embarrassing disaster, Paul was passive/non-aggressive & it DID FREAKING MATTER. He was sometimes guarded by THJR & Chandler, the game was going freaking south fast, & Paul Pierce (STlLL one of the most elite & versatile scorers in the NBA when he decides to bring it - even at age 36 1/2) incomprehensibly decided to play a supportive role - and the freaking game was VERY important with regard to obtaining HCA. This **** blows my **** mind, & needs to stop NOW. I am interested in what some of the really thoughtful posters on this board (for example, TRB3, Kittles, MGrand, EvO, Dise & others) think about this?

2. I also remain very confident that the Nets can beat either the Raps or the Bulls in 7 games even without HCA. Why? There are NO b2bs in the POs (on the road or at home). There is a reason this team has the best record in the EC (30-13) in 2014 with MANY quality wins (especially at home, but also away) - they are GOOD! And once again, as pointed out by TRB3 & Dise among others last night, the negative overreaction of a few guys is unwarranted & ridiculous.

With Brook coming back next season and Plumlee emerging as a legit talent, I toss Blatche out with the trash. He has regressed horribly to the point where watching him has become nauseating.

If he sees any minutes in the playoffs outside of injury to Plumlee, KG, or AK47 god help us. The dude is a walking calamity

I would play Jason Collins over him for god's sake and Twin gives us next to nothing

The hating on blatche is overblown. as frustrating as he can be some times he is still a top 5 backup Center in the league. one of the issues is he is asked to do more then most backup centers... play with 4 other backups and play 20-25 minutes because he backs up either a rookie or a 40 year old.

10/5 for a backup center is pretty good. im not sure where it stands now but last month in one of the games they said he led all backup centers in rebounds.

i think this is a total grass is greener kind of thing. and next year if we trade brook and collins is playing 15-20 minutes as backup center people will REALLY be complaining.

im fine with him leaving, because he is going to sign for 3+ years and we cant afford to sign anyone into 2016.

I think its warranted because his game has gone into the toilet compared to last year.

He's getting way too minutes granted, but I expect a better overall performance. Lately he's been a liability on both ends and he's had displays of sheer cowardice.

We cannot afford to trade Brook.

He was a liability on defense last year too. and he hasnt dropped off as much as people are making it out.

- His Pts, rebs, assts, stl, blks and turnovers are nearly identical to last year.

His TS is down from 54% to 52% and his PER is down from 22 to 19. thats a dip, but its not astronomical and can mostly be attributed to him shooting twice as many 3 pointers (which kidd has encouraged). And 19 PER is still outstanding for any backup, let alone a backup center.

As far as trading lopez, its irrelevant. lopez doesnt fit here. and as bad as blatche is, lopez defensive isnt all that much better.

Blatche has been a really solid player and a top backup center. the fact that he hasnt become a legit starting center shouldnt matter. you can say he is down from last year, but look how far he has come in just 2 years in brooklyn.
