Re: Official Philadelphia Eagles Discussion Thread
The writing was on the wall after the playoff game....DeSean speaks to the media and says he wants a new contract and more money....then decides NOT to show up to exit meetings with the coaching staff.
His on the field contributions will be missed, but he can be replaced. Were trying to build a new team here and if a guys attitude/work ethic don't mesh with what the coach is trying to instill in the program, then sometimes gotta let things go.
Better to do this now, then have it become a bigger distraction during the season/camp.

Re: Official Philadelphia Eagles Discussion Thread
I thought Jackson was an electric player and fun to watch, but I am excited to officially move on to a different chapter with this team. No more Reid. No more Vick. Now, no more Jackson. I think we will be alright. I have faith in this coach and in Roseman.

I caught the tail-end of a thing on espn2 and it sounded like DeSean is trying to get RG3 to change his number because RG3 wears #10.
Really Desean? REALLY? haha

Really? You guys are drinking the Cool-Aid on this one?
I'm still waiting for some big story to drop to justify this whole thing. But until that happens, to let a big piece of the offense walk for nothing, and even worse seeing him sign with a division rival a couple days later, is unacceptable to me.
It's gonna be even worse when Malcolm Jenkins is 5 yards behind the guy on a race to the end zone.

The big story is Chip didn't want him on the team so he is now not on the team. I don't think Chip really cared where Jackson ended up, he just didn't want him in his lockeroom anymore.

Re: Official Philadelphia Eagles Discussion Thread
Jackson was a good player. But there are 15 receivers in this league that are as good as or better then him. But at 10m+ he was expendable. And easily replaceable. If he was 6'4 and 220lbs and offered more then just being a bomb threat then fine. But at 5'9 and 170 lbs he is fragile. And besides his numbers this year will drop off dramatically with RG3 throwing the ball and with that offensive line. Chip made him look better then what he is. When you have the best RB in the league teams played up in the box to stop the running game. Teams desperately tried taking McCoy away. With that DeSean excelled. LeSean was more feared then DeSean.

I'd say his contract was pretty fair for what he brought... and it's not like that money is going to be going anywhere else this year. He's a guy that has incredible speed that converts on big plays and creates space for the other guys on the field.
Bottom line, we are a better football team with him on the field than without him. I don't think the offense is going to go in a tailspin or anything, but you're taking away a pretty big weapon, handing him to a division rival, and getting nothing back in return.

I think people are really underestimating the negative impact he had on the locker room, remember Terrell Owens in 2005? Have you ever played on a team or had a co-worker that was a bad apple? Would the environment be better or worse if that person wasn't around? It takes only one drop of gasoline to contaminate the water supply.

Re: Official Philadelphia Eagles Discussion Thread
More rationalizations.
Bottom line... as a fan... does it not sting that we lost an extremely talented player to a division rival?
That's all I'm saying. I get it. He was headache. But I can't help but think about what could of been with this offense, and the fact that he's now wearing a Redskins uniform just throws salt in the wounds.

haha...almost 10 years later I still wonder what could have been if T.O. didn't run himself out of town....and he was a MUCH better WR than Djax was/is.

Re: Official Philadelphia Eagles Discussion Thread
It doesn't matter what I, or any other fan thinks. We don't have to interact with the players on a daily basis. If the Eagles front office cut a player as talented as Jackson it means they couldn't tolerate his off the field issues any longer. What goes on off the field is just as important as what happens on it. It also means Chip Kelly, an offensive mastermind, thinks the offense will be fine without #10.
Also, the Eagles are still the class of the NFC East, don't sweat it. The Redskins will implode around week 6.
Edit: We lost a HOF caliber WR to the Cowboys before, how did that work out?

Re: Official Philadelphia Eagles Discussion Thread
If Chip was fine with letting go of Jackson knowing full well what he can do in his offence then I'm fine with it too. Jackson can put up numbers but he's a diva. I can't wait to see how he's handled in Washington.

Much bigger distraction too! haha

Considering TO had 3587 yards and 38 TDs in those 3 years he spent with the Cowboys, I'd say not all that well.
And if it doesn't matter what the fans think why even bother talking about the team? Are we supposed to just spit out facts and regurgitate information fed to us from the team?
Again, I understand that they had a reason behind it, but it doesn't make the loss sting any less. No need to keep reiterating the same point (he said, feeling somewhat like a hypocrite).

And the cowboys didn't win a playoff game during TOs tenure there and he got his ass cut after that 3rd year.
What I meant was the Eagles coach and front office don't care what we fans think. If they did they would have kept the fan favorite WR around. They know what's best for their team better than us.
For a GM/Coach, if you listen to the fans, you will end up sitting with them.
