The Blazers got desperate maxed out a 7'2 defensive juggernaut like Hibbert to please Aldridge, the Warriors didn't get desperate but they offered Jordan a big deal. I see the same happening with Monroe. Monroe's slow, he's a bad help defender, and his hands are iffy(iffy means sometimes good, sometimes bad). 4yrs/50mil is perfect for Moose. Favors got 48mil, Sanders got 44mil, and Cousins got 62mil, Moose fits right in the middle.

He is a 23 year old highly skilled offensive player. He averages 17 & 10 on a crappy team as the 2nd/3rd option. He is easily a 20/10 All Star on the Wizards for instance. The market determines your value, the market clearly says a 17 & 10 per game, 23 year old 7 footer is a max player.
Monroe's defense is below average otherwise the hands things & athleticism is more so a Pistons forum overreaction. The athleticism thing was never brought up until guys were spoiled by Drummond. Z Bo, Hibbert etc all have little lateral quickness etc. Moose is actually outstanding athletically both running the break & beating his man off the dribble in the high post.
& be clear, im not debating what he is worth, thats an opinion thing & not at all how FA works. I'm talking about how FA works.

You know I've said it before, if we max him out to be our starting center of the future and then mold the team correctly beginning with trading Drummond for a stud perimeter player, fine, but I do not want to pay him more than like $9-10M per to be our starting PF. He's worth the max to teams that need a center, not to us which is why we should have traded him at the deadline.

I still don't see Monroe getting max money though, maybe close to max money. I'm a fan of Monroe too and I hope he gets a big deal. But just like Spider said, that wouldn't be a good investment. Monroe really isn't a max player, but RFA's always seem to get over-paid. Talented big's are hot commodities now-a-days so lets see what happens.

Your opinion is he isnt a PF, well he is going to be paid as a skilled 7 footer, not as a position. However while he is clearly capable of playing PF contrary to your belief, its not debatable that he is better as a C, that is his natural position 4 years in.
However its not about PF/C as I just said, & for us we dont have a better option at PF. If we let go of a dude as skilled as Monroe at 23 we deserve 09-14 all over again. That would be the height of front office failure.
Max Ben Gordon, sign Charlie V, Sign Jennings, near Max Josh Smith, let Greg Monroe walk. That would be a run of incompetence that I doubt could be touched.Neptune wrote:@Clarity and @Piston Prince: Good points from both of you guys. You guys know I hand out And 1's like candy.

Again, not about what our own opinions of what he is worth is.
Thats not how FA works.
