Henry Sims

Post#1 » by SJSF » Fri Mar 28, 2014 3:17 pm

Is it me or does he look pretty good as a future back up center next year. He has the size and toughness to make me take notice. Thoughts?

Yeah hope they keep him. He reminds me of Reggie Evans with a jumper and more athletic then Evans.

Liked him since he owned us in a pre-season game to the Cavs.

Sure why not? He's a lot better than anything Hawes, Lavoy, Moultrie and Davies had to offer.

So far he's been doing just about everything you'd ask out of a reserve big man.

He's given us good minutes since he got here and has probably earned a job for next year, even if its not in Philly.

I would have liked to have snuck Dellavedova out of the deal as well.

He's got size, hustles, plays physical and doesn't back down for contact. I'll take that off the bench in a big everyday.

Add in the fact that he's flashed some skill on offense (touch on his jumper, passing ability from high post and the occasionally post move) and I think he's def worth keeping around and further developing.

It's funny coz he played over here in manila, in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) for one conference and was a total bust. Couldn't even average 20 against people half his size. So when I found out that we had traded for him, I was like... Wtf Damn. But recently he's been playing really solid and I do like his production and hard work on the court.

He's a pretty bad scorer, but I like almost everything else he brings to the table. Knows his limitations and plays hard. I'd like to keep him around next season as a backup for Noel.

Another good game. Plus he shot 14-18 from the FT line

He's a keeper. Wroten, Anderson, Sims, Varnado are keepers .

i wouldn't be completely heartbroken if they dumped Wroten.

He seems like a chucking loser player to me. He's out of control out there

Anderson? He really hasn't shown much imo. Thompson is a 39 % 3 point shooter and has potential as a defender as well. I think he might be a keeper like BB said.

I just hope we get rid of Mullens and Moultrie. I still like Wroten, dude has potential at just 20 years old, has crazy physical tools. Has a lot of things to improve upon and he is wildly inconsistant and inefficient, but I like him as a prospect going forward. Agree Sims should most definitely be back, and probably Varnado is well. Varnado really isn't that young anymore though, have to wonder how much potential is there.

Everyone else I wouldn't really care what we do with them, would be fine keeping but getting rid of them is cool with me also.

Sims has been kind of a steal. The cavs thought he was just some throwin but he actually has some game. He needs to learn to finish through contact but I like how he isn't as soft as Hawes was. Love his passing, he's very consistant with it. Can hit the occasional jumpshot and communicates and hustles well on defense. I like him more than Hawes really, only thing we're missing is the outside shooting that Spencer brought..

Next year:

PG: MCW, Wroten
SG: #10, FA
SF: Wiggins/Parker, Thompson
PF: Thad, Vernado
Cc: Noel, Sims

Quite frankly, I think we have PG, C, and SF figured out pretty much. It's nice knowing that we found some solid role players for the future. We just need to hit on the big ones now.
PG: Russell Westbrook, Reggie Jackson
SG: Andre Roberson, Anthony Morrow, Jeremy Lamb
SF: Kevin Durant, KJ McDaniels, Perry Jones
PF: Serge Ibaka, Nick Collison, Robert Covington
Cc: Al Jefferson, Steven Adams, Kendrick Perkins, Mitch McGary

J-Rich should be on the team next year. He can provide 3 pt shooting, leadership, and has a $6.6 million expiring.

For some reason, during this season the Sixers were good at finding serviceable bigs (Orton, Dedmon, Varnado, Sims) but sucked ass at finding a guard who is productive. Whatever the reason is, this strikes me as kind of odd (luckily, MCW and Wroten were great acquisitions).

Yeah, I agree, I think he can be a good veteran. And if he becomes a problem we can always cut him or trade him for some 2nd rounders.

Something tells me we weren't very proactive in finding a decent guard....would have led too potential wins lol.

He has been a pleasant surprise. I like how he plays physical, isn't afraid of contact, rebounds/hustles well and plays like a true big.

This clip shows that he is quite decent on offense. I particularly loved how he managed to almost slither through the D and glide his way to the rim to score on lay-ups.

We should keep him as a back-up if he continues to play well and get better.
