Have you guys been paying attention to the numbers Henry Sims has been putting up
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Gotta take those numbers with a grain of salt. He is on a horrible Philadelphia team playing out the string, getting blown out every night. That's a lot of garbage time against disinterested defenses who haven't bothered to scout him.

Perhaps you're right but I'm sure many folks didn't think he could put up those kind of numbers period.
At the very least he's proving (imo) he has a place in this league.

I give the benefit of the doubt to guys who put up "empty stats" too. buckets are buckets and rebounds are rebounds. Philly at the very least has a really good backup (thus trade chip). According to my G'town friends he committed to G'town but lost out to Greg Monroe and so was sparingly used. Similar players though.

Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 2
Simms has a ways to go to be considered a solid backup. I think we've learned from watching Vesely and Seraphin not to put too much emphasis on a good streak here or there on a very bad team towards the end of a season. Sims looks the part, but he wasn't even particularly good at G-town as a senior playing 28 minutes a game. He shot well under 50% from the field and didn't rebound well. He got a lot of assists playing the Providence offense center role, but he got nearly as many turnovers. The one thing he did well was get to the line and make foul shots. I remember seeing he had a big game at the line recently with Philly, so maybe that's indicative of a legit useful skill - we'll have to see.

man Indy looks so bad. Looks worst than Toronto, Chicago, or BK. At this point you might wanna be the 7th seed. This Bobcats game is almost starting to look like a win win situation........lol

Stevenson is certainly a unique player and very easy to hate. You gotta take the bad with the good if you root for him.

Agree, Simm's numbers cannot be dismissed entirely. Simms did get a double-double against the Bulls defense/Noah and his stats have improved. I did toss-out his big game against Boston, that front line gets abused on the regular

curious if a foul was called on this play. I can't tell from the video. Certainly
should have been. Never mind. Now I see the outside (near side) ref called it.

How in the hell can Andre Drummond be so dominant yet the Pistons continue to lose so bad? Last night, Drummond had 26 points and 26 rebounds (including 12 offensive rebounds so you know most of his 26 points weren't because of plays being run for him). He also had a block and 3 steals. The Pistons lost to the Bulls 106-98.

Well this how it happen...Chicago rotated late left guys open and thought those guys were going to score because of the open looks...Drummond; because he knows his team mates are guys like Josh Smith, who cant shoot, stayed in the paint and was easily rewarded with rebounds
Pay your beals....or its lights out!!!

Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 2
.
With Atlanta's win over Miami tonight,, the New York Knicks were officially eliminated from playoff contention.
I've written on this board before -- the Knicks are a proud and storied franchise who are being ground into dust by their owner. New York fans are among the most loyal and vociferous fans around and they don't deserve this walking cluster f*ck of a team.
While everyone points at Knicks head coach Mike Woodson as the main problem (and he sucks, no doubt about it), the main culprits are those who have had a hand in assembling their roster. High volume, low-IQ player like JR Smith should be banned from this league and ultimately end up on the roster of your lower-rung GMs. Tyson Chandler has played like a female dog. There is no point guard on the roster that can't be replaced by the third best PG in the D-League.
They've hired Phil Jackson to turn thing around, yet maintained their GM and Head Coach. IMO that just screams of a "PR hire" -- one to calm disgruntled fans down and help maintain season ticket renewals for next season. (And being New York, tickets cannot be cheap).
The Big Apple deserves better. As Nate has observed, the East isn't just weak this year. It's historically weak. Whether through design (Philly), a bunch of injuries or both (Milwaukee), there are a number of East teams that are completely uncompetitive this year. That you can't make the playoffs this year in the East is a complete and total indictment of your entire franchise.
Everyone in New York from Dolan on down has got to go.

I would also point to the trade for Bargnani which was awful. Not sure what the Knicks were thinking there. They have been a better team since he's been out.
JR Smith has been playing better during the last 3 months- 45% from the field and over 40% from but yeah he was pretty bad during the first two months of the season.
Even if Jackson is just publicity stunt, the Knicks did need a new GM going forward.

That's even crazier than Tracy Murray's 50 point game.

It's because he's a bad leader who doesn't make his teammates better. Also, he doesn't know how to win. He's a stat padder.

I thought his poor +/- numbers - yes, even on Detroit, the team does worse with him on the court than without - were because defenses often don't guard him because he has no range, but his defensive +/- is significantly worse than his offensive +/-. I know he makes more than his share of mistakes on D, but I thought his shot-blocking and intimidating presence would more than make up for that. Over time, he'll likely improve those +/- numbers significantly, but he's a player that you can't just look at his production and efficiency stats. The stats folks should be open to look at why his team plays worse when he's on the floor - rather than saying his stats prove he's one of the top few players in basketball - especially after UConn wins the NCAA championship led by the main crew who accomplished nothing in the 1 year they played with him.

I thought Kevin love when I read that, but I'm assuming you're being sarcastic...
Drummond is weird though to me, he fills up the box score but his game seems...unimpactful, maybe because it is predicated a lot on his teammates mistakes. Drummond is young though, he doesn't have to be the alpha guy on his team yet, its awesome for Davis that he is so far, but there is a reason why Davis went number 1 overall and Drummond dropped. Drummond is doing most his work on sheer athleticism and size. Refinement may come in time.
