I just don't think it needs a disclaimer.

Not really a disclaimer. Almost everybody here has acknowledged Durant's historic season and thinks that he deserves the MVP. It's more about having a general discussion about the two players. This is the MVP thread but really right now it's serving as an overall comparison thread.

This is correct

Most sensible fans feel like durant will win

Only question left is the margin

That's what happens when you're great. People put disclaimers on your accomplishments. Go read that LeBron youngest to 23k thread. First response should tell you everything about how all time greats are treated, Durant is no exception.

So instead of complaining about the disclaimers, just be happy that your guy is winning his first MVP.

Funny thing is KD isn't even receiving the LeBron treatment in this thread. Almost all people including Heat/LeBron fans have said KD has been better this season, deserving MVP, historic season, all-time great, great player etc. All people are saying are that LeBron has shown flashes this year when he was engaged in Jan-Feb and was as good as better than KD. And for KD to become the undisputed best player he would have to outperform LeBron in the playoffs (not necessarily head to head, for me he doesn't even have to win a ring but I do think LeBron will turn it up in the playoffs, he's obviously coasting right now).

Other than that, there is nothing wrong in saying both LeBron and KD have had messed up lineups and their 2nd best player missing a LOT of games.

Agreed. Talking about LeBron's season doesn't necessarily mean it's better than Durant, which is what people seem to think its implying and get offended about it. They just don't wanna see LeBron's name in this thread at all lol

Yup, but as I said this is serving as an overall comparison thread rather than the MVP thread because the race is over.

Compared to LeBron accolades thread or any other LeBron thread (not that I care about people "disclaiming his achievements"), the posters here have been quite complimentary of KD and rightfully so. He deserves it.

the heat would have had a better record than the thunder already but they been getting bs calls all year. The pacers game and the fake foul to end the timberwolves game. Oh yeah and the rig job over in chicago that had the heat aka lebron and the oldest team and the league shooting 0 freethrows for 2 games straight

Am I wrong to believe Chris Paul would warrant MVP consideration if he didn't get hurt during the season?

If you mean he would be in 3rd place, no you're not wrong. If you're thinking he would be competing for 1st or 2nd, yes.

Yeah, I think people would have talked about him more...but his injury kind of revealed that Blake Griffin has been a hugely underrated part of the Clippers' success. I'd say Griffin has been their MVP and best overall player this year. He's the guy that I would say should get MVP consideration if not for LeBron and Durant.

And the Clippers don't have as good of a record as the Thunder anyway, which is one of the main points in Durant's favor: the way he kept his team elite despite Westbrook missing so much time.

Looks like the media finally gave up on creating suspense too: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/10754 ... -race-over

Not a race so much as a trouncing. Durant could be mere months away from being acknowledged by the majority of NBA fans as the best player in basketball, if he can finish this season with a title.

This seems relevant here:

http://espn.go.com/nba/truehoop/miamiheat/story/_/id/10758696/lebron-james-says-kevin-durant-most-consistent-far-mvp-award

Bits from the article:

"I would say he's the most consistent basketball player as far as the MVP this year, man," James said. "He's put up some great numbers."

"I think KD has had one heck of a season," James said of Durant, the league's leading scorer. "And, you know, if he's rewarded with the MVP, it would be great. It would be awesome for him, for his family. He's played MVP-type basketball. I don't really get caught up into what people say. At the end of the day, they have their own votes and they go from there."

KD playoff averages: 29, 8 and 4. KD career averages: 27, 7 and 4. Yea, he'll probably fall apart in the playoffs.

Yeah, it hasn't been a very competitive race. ESPN wants us to believe that LeBron has a viable chance but every unbiased basketball fan knows that KD has had this rapped up almost from end to end and at the very least since ASB.
