Jadeveon Clowney could be the next Lawrence Taylor

Post#1 » by tcorbin » Sat Mar 29, 2014 5:39 am

If Clowney goes to the Texans or Falcons, he could be in the 3-4 and possibly moved to OLB with his speed. Clowney is the most highly touted defensive prospect in the last decade. Could he be the closest thing we get to LT or a legit MVP candidate on the defensive side of the ball?

Not Julius Peppers, but Clowney is more John Abraham or Simeon Rice. Peppers ran a 4.7, 40. Both Clowney and Abraham ran a 4.5, 40. Peppers is more of a power rusher, while Clowney and Abraham are speed rushers with power, and both Clowney and Abraham can play OLB and drop back in coverage, some thing that Peppers cannot do.

They said the same things about Lavar Arrington.

Let him play a snap in the NFL before comparing him to the best OLB ever.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

They say Mack outperformed Clowney in the combine in almost everything.

He scares me a bit. He has 13 sacks as a sophomore and 3 as a junior. I wouldn't be surprised if as soon as this guy got paid, he just didn't care all that much.

same here. I understand he faced a lot of attention, but 3 sacks is 3 sacks. I'm no expert, but if I had to bet, I'd bet something closer to a good solid productive DE ala Justin Tuck than being a legendary player.
