Not sure, I did see something a few days ago that Khan wouldn't get the fight next...more like 2015. I guess you have to consider Porter-Malignaggi, maybe a guy like Keith Thurman as well.

That's a shame. So much for Stevenson/Kovalev.
My thoughts exactly.

If Khan beats Collazo in convincing fashion, he gets Mayweather. They're not going to save that till next year so that he can face Broner/Thurman or the winner of Paulie/Porter, they're going to fast track it to September.

That would be such a shame. As much as I respect Collazo a win over him shouldn't be enough to earn Khan a shot.

Re: Boxing Thread 4.0
It shouldn't, but it will. Mayweather was really close to picking Khan without him having a win over a credible opponent in his last couple of fights. He'll definitely pick him IF he beats Collazo.

Damn, nice knockdown by Kovalev. Enough power to get through guards, but knows how to get around guards anyway.
How'd the ref not see that headbutt?
Cuts above both of Kovalev's eyes and he still scores the KO.

The HBO feed was beyond horrible for the fight...
I love Kovalev interview and candor... worth seeing... I will not spoil it.

In all fairness, they did explain that Atlantic City was being absolutely pounded by a huge storm and it was messing with their broadcast.

Mayfield/Dulorme was a holdfest, ugly fight to watch.
Kovalev/Agnew went longer than anyone expected but he still got the KO. Kovalev switched up his attack in the middle of the fight, going to the body more often.

It's really easy to talk smack about how you would destroy your opponent when you know 100 percent that the fight has no chance of being made. He turned down a fight with Kovalev because he supposedly wanted more money, then he jumped ship to Showtime with Al Haymon knowing full well that he doesn't have to fight him anymore due to the cold war politics between Showtime and HBO.
Pretty much... he is ducking him....lol.
I can't fault him for going for $$$ but don't be a punk and talk **** if you have no intention of fighting Kovalev. Kovalev is right... he is a piece of ****...

I deleted it from my DVR... it was blah...
HBO has had a **** sandwich of a year so far... heck... it is a **** sandwich without the bread...
I think Showtime extreme has had better fights with Lopez/PonceDeLeon fight recently... which says something about how f'ed up HBO has been without golden boy fighters.

Re: Boxing Thread 4.0
There's really been a lack of fights on HBO and Showtime so far this year. I thought both networks were quite good last year even with the promotions taking sides with the networks. The Showtime one in 2 weeks seems decent enough but the week after that is pretty much one of those Al Haymon Mismatch Specials that he used to put on HBO from time to time, maybe even worse than that.
As for HBO, it's time to get bold and put Golovkin/Chavez Jr. on the premium channel when that fight is signed, and it does appear to be close. I know they think this fight can sell relatively well on PPV but they need to do something that can tilt it toward their way and this fight would clearly be the most watched fight this year.

Re: Boxing Thread 4.0
There were two really good fights on NBC sports last Friday.
Cunningham/Monsour was probably the best heavyweight fight that I've seen in a really long time.
Curtis Stevens/Johnson was entertaining as well. Talk about two bouts that should have been on HBO.

Looks like Lara will be Alvarez's next opponent, Lara does have a pending fight with Ishe Smith on May 2 that might be called off. Lara/Alvarez would be on July 12 on Showtime PPV.

Props to Canelo for taking a really dangerous fight instead of waiting on the winner of Cotto/Martinez.

Impressive TKO win from Porter. No idea what Malignaggi was doing going toe to toe with him though.

Re: Boxing Thread 4.0
That's what Paulie gets for saying all that ignorant crap about Pac. He just got his ass kicked by his former sparring partner.
And Quillin would get his ass whooped by GGG. I'm just not impressed with him. If GGG landed some of those same shots he would have knocked him out. He should count his blessings that there's a Cold War between HBO and Showtime.
