Its not a matter of dumping. Were possibly losing two key contributors on this team in Shane Battier and Ray Allen. Its a matter of sacrifice, is Mario Chalmers worth the 5 to 6 million hes going to command to secure the PG position? Or would his money be better used to supplement the depth lost and have Norris and Douglas secure the backcourt?

It all depends on what Rio asks for, yes hes a key contributor, yes he steps up in the playoffs, but this offseason is a financial ballet and Rio might not be in a Heat uniform. Especially if Douglas can step into a niche role on this squad on the cheap.

Name a team that will give Mario a 6 Mil per year deal.

That's not a backup PG money, so what team is taking him to be a starter (besides us)?

Toronto gave Kapono 6M a year as a back up 3pt shooter. Don't underestimate how teams are willing to overspend

I don't even have to look at the numbers to know he impacts the game more positively than Cole. I love his defense but more importantly his ability to rebound. He gives us extra possessions , something we really need since no one else seems to want to fight for them. He sneaks in and always fights while still being able to get back on d when he doesn't get the ball. Great energy off the bench

Sat 3/29 @MIL 39 5-10 9 4 1 3 13

Mon vs tor 24 2-4 3 0 0 1 5 ( a nice forth quarter 3 and a great individual and team defense)

Let's face it Mil, Det, Mil are not tough teams.

Douglas is unlikely to play any meaningful minutes in the playoffs and that's as it should be.

Nice punchy backup to have though if we need to inject a few minutes of defensive aggression into a game.
I remember when the Dolphins were perennial contenders

He's pathetically out of sync in transition. His late decision-making is a problem.

Have you seen TD on fast breaks? I can think of several occasions where Lebron found himself practically behind the backboard because TD was slow to dish him the ball.

definitely not. Maybe lbj had to get the ball because td didnt want to be overaggressive and take a stupid shot or turnover like rio and cole...those two are infamous for blowing simple things

These plays usually result in TOs as well. He's more reliable than Cole to be sure. But often he seems out of sync in transition.

no, they dont. He gives the ball to lbj and moves out the way after a failed fast break. Toney didnt have a good night last night until the end though.

See, he did it again, this time against the Wiz. About 3-1/2 mins into the third quarter, he was coming down the floor with the ball in transition. Wade was running down on the wing. What happens? Douglas passes way too late and the ball goes right through his hands. Instant turnover.

The Heat won't need Douglas to be a traditional PG in the playoffs. His handle is decent for a combo guard, but most of the ball handling will be done by Chalmers, James and Wade anyway.

Looking past the score of the Wizards' game, I'm thinking Douglas secured a spot in the rotation tonight.

Douglas is more comfortable playing off the ball than Cole is, which makes Douglas a better fit alongside the Heat stars.
