He's been the coach there for two seasons, this one being the second. That would be one hell of a promotion.

It seems as if Kevin Ollie is a coach that everyone in the league respects, and he's really stretched out the performance of that UCONN team.

This would be a huge get for the Lakers, especially from a culture standpoint.

I was surprised when I heard this idea come up and I didn't know he was from the LA area originally. It would be crazy to only coach at UConn for 2 years and end up with the Lakers. I know players have said they really respect him and everything.. But I'm not sure how good of a coach he really is.

After Kobe retires we can start thinking about rookie coaches, not yet.

Which is tough, because there isn't a veteran coach out there who is a no-brainer.

“It’s just a matter of time,” said one NBA general manager. “The league will come calling. He’s a great communicator and has a calm demeanor. This win alone, however, doesn't just tilt the scale. It breaks it.”

“He would be excellent,” another GM said following Monday night’s victory. “He’s a stud. He understands the NBA, he’s a leader, has faced adversity and fought through it.”

One NBA executive said that whichever teams pursue Kevin Durant when he becomes a free agent will want to hire Ollie.

Ride out one more season with D'Antoni then go after Ollie one season before Durant hits free agency. :D

lol lionel hollins is such a garbage coach, its hilarious how the entire league is moving towards analyzing and making teams using sabermetrics for basketball and hes trying to go in the opposite direction. SVG is okay, but really nothing special, i wouldnt want him on the lakers.

In his 2 seasons @ UConn he has done a great job. But I still think I would watch him coach a few more years before I gave him a head coaching job in the NBA.

Byron Scott is going to be the next head coach of the Lakers, he even was on Jerry Buss' short list of coaches before they hired MDA. They know they're better off hiring a coach who truly knows the Lakers culture, and Scott definitely knows what it means to be a Laker.
