DET/GS Draft Night trade

Post#1 » by MotownMadness » Fri Apr 11, 2014 1:54 am

Pretty simple Harrison Barnes for this years #8 from the Pistons. Warriors cap situation is really getting up there and they might not want to pay Barnes in a season or two. This would allow them to grab a prospect that can pay the rookie scale too for the next 4 years.

GS should make that trade but I suspect their fans want to hold onto Barnes as a piece for a Love trade.

I'm a GSW fan and I'd do that trade in a heartbeat. I don't think there's much chance Minny wants the parts GSW would offer in a Love trade so I think that's a moot point.

Golden State absolutely, definitely, positively say yes. I think Detroit should get something back, but I have no idea what smallish asset Golden State even has to offer. Jordan Crawford?

warriors are willing to add Kuzmic 7'0 center or Nedovic 6'3 point guard. Both are Euro's and both suck....take your pick

New Love trade?

Love, Martin for Smith, Klay, 8
-
Smith and 8 for Barnes and Iggy
-
Iggy, Klay, Barnes for Love and Martin

Lee for ugh Deng sign and trade or something.

Guess that doesn't really work.

You can get Barnes for way less than that.

The guy will be out of the league in a few years.

As a detroit fan, there's no way in hell I do this deal.

Barnes hasn't shown much this season in terms of progression and the #8 pick in this draft is more valuable.

If any if the players projected 5-8 atm are still available I'd prefer to keep the pick or try and see if Charlotte will take it to satisfy the Gordon deal

Not a chance for Detroit. Barnes hasn't been that good, so why does Detroit want to give up the 8 or whatever to get him? How about KCP instead?
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Maybe but with Love.. the gorila in the room is that Love can choose his destination (also will get a max extension. They won't pay high on a "rental". So... it kind of boils down to Love making his deciscion.

As for this...How Barnes does the rest of the season/playoffs.. will still factor...then if at #8 McDermaott is still on the board...maybe GSW thinks he's NBA ready. Barnes is..clearly..more athletic but McDermott has well developed skills.

Whoever they pick at eight would be worth much more than Barnes.

Uh huh..started as a freshman at UNC, was a top 10 pick... but can't make an NBA team? How often do you watch basketball...not just video game basketball? Barnes has the tools to be a star, and some of the skills.

How good he is in a year..2 years? Hard to say but to say he'd be out of the league anytime soon..is absurd.

Once you've played in the league, where you were drafted and what you did in college don't mean a lot. What matters is how you've played, and he has regressed. Out of the league soon, no, but there are serious questions about his potential.
