Best Manager in Baseball

I always hear so many different names of managers when people discuss who is the best in the game. For the longest time a lot of casual fans gave the nod to Joe Torre. I think now even the average fan knew he was just another coach who happened to be coaching a very very good team.

So who is the guy? My vote is Bobby Cox. This is a guy who year in and year out always has his team at the top of the NL East. He's had some very good teams of course, but it seems like the players are always changing.

Who does everybody else got?

I was just gonna say Cox. Totaly agree. Torre doesn't impress me that much

I like Jim Leyland... he has put himself in some good scenarios, but he always seems to get the most out of his players.

I also think John Madden deserves credit for even winning 3 games a year in Tampa with that pitching staff.

Madden gets crucified in Tampa.

Some of it is warranted, much of it is not.

Hey now!!!!

Most weeknights there at least 5,000 actual people.

That will change, and soon too.

It's tough when a team hasn't won 70 games but once, and had it's highest finish of 4th.

That will change this year too.

I like the Rays, I think they have a solid young offense. They just need to develop solid arms...its been like 10 years now and they haven't done anything. I just don't know if they have enough to pass the O's and Jays this year.

If the Rays decide to spend money to lock up their young studs; they'll be good and real soon.

Kazmir, Shields and Price will be as good as any 1-2-3 starting pitching combo in the game (just imagine if they took Lincecum over Longoria) in 2-3 years. Then they have guys like Jacob McGee and Wade Davis with great arms in the low minors. Their offense is already in the top half of the MLB despite being incredibly young.

They need to address that atrocious bullpen in free agency, though. Worst bullpen in the league and (to my knowledge) they don't have too many great relief arms coming up through the minors.

Well a little bit OT, but Piniella is the most ENJOYABLE to watch. Damn, he has made this season not that hard on me. Every interview and every word he speaks is hilarious. The man is senial or something. He repeats everything he says in one question to the answer to another question.

Yup if only Steinbrenner can make baseball decisions and get over his fatuation with Mattingly as a manager, he would realize the future Yankee manager is currently broadcasting their games.

i hate the braves but bobby cox is a damn fine manager.

for the record, willie randolph is an absolute joke at in-game managing, but then again he coached under torre, so i can see where his tactics came from.

My favorite manager is probably Jim Leyland out in Detroit because he knows how to fire up his players.

Whoever manages the Cubs to a World Series will be the best manager in history.

Worst manager in baseball-Ozzie Guillen.
Not just because I am a Cubs fan but you tend to notice that he leaves his starting pitching in for too long. Also he doesn't understand how to communicate with the media. (See Jay Marriotti tirade and Mike North tirade)
