Kobe's retirement jersey question

Post#1 » by RSCD3_ » Sun Apr 13, 2014 4:21 pm

As a non laker fan I was curious whether he would have his jersey retired as #8 or #24.

What would you like to see and what do you think will happen?

Tough choice. He's had epic individual accomplishments with both jersey numbers and won one more ring with #8.

retire them both.

ocho and MVP both had careers worth retiring their jerseys.

i don't know, to me it seems like it should obviously be 24. if he wanted to be remembered for #8, he could have just kept the number. i could see them unofficially never giving someone else #8, but to see it up in the rafters would seem weird after he dumped the number like 8 yrs ago.

8 in the back and 24 on the front. Then put his jersey on a motorized spinning hanger so it's rotating slowly, showcasing both 8 and 24. yeah!

I think both #'s should be retired. Only choosing one is like saying he did nothing with the other #.

it he only gets to choose one it will be 24. having one jersey with 24 and 8 would be fine as well in my book but im pretty sure people will have mixed feelings about it. I know weve argued about who the best lakers is and most people have magic and kobe at 1/2, but have magics recent things hes said affect his spot since people take best laker as time played with the lakers and after retirement etc?

24, obviously. 8 is in the past and is tied to Shaq. He will choose 24.

I say leave it up to Kobe to choose, and I am pretty sure he'll go with #24.

Both.

but #24 is better.. he had a lot tough years, tear and wear and then come with expectedly more mature personality and win with #24.. its just better.

let Wigginz or Exum have #8

I always liked the #8 better. I never understood why he changed numbers anyway! But it would probably be 24 though.

They're going to retire both jersey's. It's so obvious and has been for a long time, otherwise they would've issued #8 to players but they haven't.

I think sometime during the latter half of this season, perhaps when they realize he was going to be ruled out for the year, they should have retired #8...
He could have been like the only active player with a retired Jersey or something like that... It would have given the fans something to take their mind off the trash on the court...
And it might have refocused Kobe a little too... Right now he's making himself part of the problem it seems. Maybe an honor like that would get him fired up again...

Who knows, maybe he wouldn't be into that right now if he thinks he's going to be back better than ever.

24 with the Lakers and 8 with the Miami Heat, because they like to retire other players numbers.
