Looks like he won't be playing this season anymore. Sad that he couldn't get a proper farewell for his service.

Whether he comes back or not, he's been a phenomenal servant to this franchise, a great professional and a wonderful human being, while also being the single reason we turned around from perennial 8th seed to contenders overnight.

No matter what happens in free agency, thank you Pau!

Don't worry Lakers org will retire his jersey when it's all said and done.

He can still do damage under the right coach. I hope to see him back!

Because he will go to the HOF, you have to remember that we only retire HOFers

I'll never forget February 1st, 2008. One of the greatest days ever for Laker fans. It came out of nowhere. We were struggling and just lost to one of the worst teams in the league (Seattle Supersonics). Bynum had been injured in a game against the Grizzlies. Things were not looking good. I remember watching the Lakers getting killed by my hometown Pistons. Then BAM!!! A 7 foot Spaniard saved our franchise. Thank you Pau for all of the memories. I'll never forget your first game against the New Jersey Nets. The chemistry between Pau and Kobe was there from the start. Thank you for destroying Dwight in the 09 finals! Thank you for helping us get two championships. I hope you retire a Laker. I'm sorry we have took you for granted over the last few seasons. Hopefully we respect your wishes in the off-season and get you a new coach and a new contract that fits our future. For now here is a little bit of Lakers history.

I agree with Kilroy, he'll be back. I don't want to give up that he's done here. Unless Jim and Mitch are in love with MDA and have no intention of showing him the door that's the only way he's gone.

We know under the right coach and competent system Pau can be more than decent.

MDA must go period.

Fans really shouldn't make pau's return all about MDA. I'm a big pau fan but truth is they he's aging and his game ad health has been declining at a steady rate long before mda got here. Now he's at an age where he needs guaranteed years as he reaches his mid 30s whereas the lakers are at a point where they need cap flexibility. Making this a pau vs mda situation is being blind to those factors. Even if mda is gone the real true obstacle is his contract demands and the lakers willingness to commit cap to aging declining unhealthy player.

would like him back but only at the right price under right circumstances...but definetly made me a player fan which I"m usually not thats why I so frustrated seeing his decline over the years. Couldn't recall a better team 1st player than this guy, maybe except Odom as well.

LMAO, It IS a Pau vs MDA, It is Kaman, Hill vs MDA, its all about MDA and you're always defending MDA at all cost. Edit Lets blame Pau and call him old and declining unhealthy player, yet according to you Nash isn't old and he is worth all the picks/money we gave up for him and Pau is OLD and unhealthy and he is declining when Pau is only 33 years old!!!

Pau can still give you 15 and 10 every night, guarantee. He can be the 6th man in any team in contention and still contribute. He didn't fit right in MDA playground 4 pg and 1 center uptempo system all offense and no defense style. We all know that everybody knows that.

Except MDA Edit who blame Pau "for his contract demands and the lakers willingness to commit cap to aging declining unhealthy player" "Making this a pau vs mda situation is being blind to those factors."
Pau will take 8-9 mil to stay in LA. But he wont if MDA still is the coach. MDA is a bust always has been and always will be. Stop blaming Pau because Mike SUCKS.

By the way, for the MDA FAN BOYS!!

It's no secret that he dislikes Coach Mike D'Antoni's offense. It's also no secret that the Lakers will eventually weigh whether D'Antoni returns for the final guaranteed year of his contract.

By the time Gasol's contract officially expires in a few months, he will know D'Antoni's fate. Maybe there's even a possibility of reuniting with the Lakers.

β€œI think there's chances,” he said carefully. β€œIt depends what the conditions are going to be, and then I'll decide what's best. At this point in my career, I just have to be picky, put my personal feelings aside and look at the whole picture.”

Consummate professional. Even after how poorly the franchise and fanbase (myself included) treated him, he has nothing but good things to say about them.

I'll be the first to admit that I've really under appreciated what he has done for us the last couple seasons. I'd love to have him back next season, but only if the price and circumstances are right. As of right now his fate is tied to D'Antoni.

Lakers have shown Kobe loyalty, they need to show Pau some and bring him back at a reasonable price that is fair to his current ability, and hire a coach who will use him right. This man brought us 2 rings! That's only one less than Shaq. People forget how much he has meant to us.

I agree with many of you that Pau is still a great asset to a championship team.

Pau's like the GF that is always good to you, things are great, then years later you start getting bored of, break up and you then regret because you didn't appreciate her until you let her go. Cmon Mitch don't let Pau be that X GF!!!
