That's right. That injury walking up the dugout stairs is a torn ligament!

I hope this means they platoon Kawasaki and Diaz at 2B when Reyes gets back.

I don't know how much more of Goins I can take.

Two of Goins, Diaz, and Kawasaki are here for a long time. If Reyes doesn't get and stay healthy, it's not going to be be pretty.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Well if his salary now goes on insurance, no reason they can't bring in Drew now.

Sign drew already! He can play SS while Reyes is out(which is always) and then play 2nd when Reyes returns. Anyone know if there's still draft pick compensation attached to him even if his contract is under 10 mill? Even if there is we only loose the 39th pick which isn't too bad when u have 9&11

Not good news. Hopefully Kawasaki gets more playing time than Goins.

Extremely unfortunate for us. Sucks that the Jays are convinced that Goins is starting at 2B. When Reyes gets back, i'd prefer Kawasaki or Diaz over Goins starting.

Very unfortunate to hear this. The idea of Goins at Second Base for the full-year is an idea i do not like. Would love for this team to sign Drew now. However- i doubt that happens. Definitely sucks.

Weak. I walk down stairs all the time without hurting myself.

Well he was more useful this year than last. Give me two weeks or competency over a season of "worst player in league"

Edit: wow roto wire has a awesome angle on this story. This injury will allow Goins to get more games in at shortstop (?) and give him SS eligibility in fantasy. Wow. Can't wait till I can play him at short.

And yet somehow, it probably isn't even in the top 50 strangest injuries that a baseball player has suffered...and that's just the ones they've admitted to.

Sammy Sosa breaking a rib while sneezing seems normal compared to this.

I feel bad for him. Given that he was off to a pretty good start, after having such an abysmal year last year.

I wonder under what terms the insurance on a contract like Izturis' kicks in,, so that AA might receive a substantial refund that could contribute to another signing...

(or maybe the club doesn't take out insurance on such a "small" contract?)

Wonder what it would cost to get Brandon Phillips. With Tampa losing Cobb now, the Jays might be able to contend in this division.
