I'm going with 20 PPG, based on a) natural development/improvement as a player, b) probably will get more minutes and c) a seemingly improved relationship with Kyrie and a team that will probably be less dysfunctional next year. I will, however, be surprised if he jumps to All-Star level next year unless the whole Cavs team takes a big leap too.

Depends on who the Cavs overpay this off season. They may pick up another Jack that Brown wants to play 38 mpg.

They made some signings that turned out bad, but I don't think the signings were particularly bad. If that makes sense. I really don't think that that's a realistic issue to worry about.

I hope Dion gets a bigger role next year. I think 18-20 ppg is possible. With the Cavs though, you never really know.

Predicting the Cavs win 45 games, Dion Waiters scores 20 ppg on 45% FG, 6th seed in the East.

It's AB's fault. (Bynum/Bennett, pick one)

I predict Dion will have a bigger part in a non existant offense because Mike Brown has no idea what the hell is going on as long as he steps up is defensive effort.
I predict he will have less Tweets because no one cares about Cavs basketball except people stuck in Cleveland
I predict we will still suck
I predct Dan Gilbert will meddle too much again.
I predict that Coach K will get a call from Gilbert for the GM spot who will politely say no thank you. Then Coach Izzo will get a call who will say maybe and after a month say sorry no after he gets a bigger contact at Mich. State

2nd to 3rd year is when players typically make the hugest leap right?

Yep, it worked for Kyrie and Tristan didn't it?

I've posted this sentiment before on these boards somewhere, but wanted to see if anyone else agreed.

I really think Dion would strive as a PG (think Westbrook) with a defensive/3pt SG next to him. Of course he could play some minutes as SG too, but I personally think that's where I see Dion being at his best in the NBA eventually.

Of course that'll never happen with Kyrie around, but a refused extension or something similar could leave us in that position.

I think the whole Waiters as a PG thing, especially the Waiters over Kyrie as a PG thing, is moronic, but it's a futile argument. It seems to me that it's just people turning flashes into much more than it really is. I don't know how anyone could honestly think that Dion will just start dishing out 8 dimes a game if you moved him to PG, it's such a gigantic leap. He's a good passer but, get real. It's a lot more than that.

Oh, and SGs typically take the leap around age 24. So I don't think we'll see a major Dion leap until his 4th year (if at all).

hm

wade - 2006 - age 24
kobe - 2002 - age 24
MJ - 1987 - age 24
Harden - 2003 - age 24

Dude, are you some kind of prophet? This is scary accurate.

Why is it futile? I think it's something you can easily discuss and provide solid evidence for on either side (especially the side you are arguing). Also, wasn't saying Dion OVER Kyrie at all - Simply if our hand was slightly forced that it's a move worth considering. I mean Kyrie's career assist numbers are below 6/game.

I do agree though it was only some flashes, but with the right compliment in the backcourt I believe he could handle maybe 2/3 of the ball handling.

This is all complete hypothetical BS - Just starting a discussion. Best case is Kyrie and Dion click consistently and step up the D.

God I hope so maybe just a new coach with a brain is all that is needed
Screw Ladouchebag forever and always
Screw most owners that are stupid and greedy
Screw the devil david stern
Screw the officials that handed the heat a championship
And screw the media that loves to tell us who we should love and why.

Pretty much how i feel. I'm thinking 18ppg but you never know. Brown and the cavs are so bi-polar with waiters minutes and role its too hard to predict.

Ideal situation and i think he's 18ppg, 3.5 rpg, 4 apg. He's not jumping to all star but he could improve his perception and TS% just by working on his damn free throws. That and finishing at the rim / passing from the paint. He can get there any time and draw 3 defenders he just needs to pass more once he's in there and things will open up.

Also some calls would be nice. Get's less respect than anyone in the nba.

I feel like he got more calls that last 1/3rd of the season. He also shot better from the line in that period I think. Dion needs to be at least a consistent 75% at the line to up his game. He also needs to finish at the rim. If he can just do those few things, I think he'll add another 2-4 ppg to his average.

I don't believe he will make much of an improvement. Waiters IMO is not that good and you cannot be a playoff team with him as a primary piece.
