I hate Kidd and this 5th seed or 6th seed doesn't matter. Yes, it does. If we want to make the ECF our best bet is with the 5th seed. Granted the first round is far from a given, I give us a 50/50 shot, but if we do advance the better second matchup is clearly Indiana.

Also, it's no given that if we tank for the 6th we get the Raptors. The Knicks have been playing pretty damn good basketball recently, 15-5 in their last 20 I believe including beating us, the Bulls and the Raps up in Toronto in their last 3. They'll be playing at home, for pride, and for some younger guys an audition to stay with the Knicks or draw another team's attention. So if we're tanking to avoid the Bulls and land the Bulls at the 6 seed how dumb would we look? If its not a matter of tanking, but of not caring like I said the Pacers are clearly the better 2nd round opponent if we advance.

I honestly think Kidd said that 5th or 6th seed doesn't matter because he's trying to cover a mistake he made. He clearly **** up and should've secured the 5th seed by playing Pierce at Orlando or DWill home against the Hawks. If we won one of those games we could've been resting guys last night and tonight.

He's saying he doesn't care to save face and excuse that poor decision to rest guys before we secured the 5th seed. And he's about to compound that mistake by throwing away this game. He definitely took a page from King here with his let me make the mistake of trading for Wallace worse by signing him to a terrible contract because how bad would it look if he walked.

And in the process he took all our momentum from a good month of March and a big win in Miami and just pissed it away

Though I do completely agree, I see our situation as a simple but annoying mistake on JKidd's part. With the success we had going into this final stretch it wasn't too farfetched for us to win the orlando and/or hawks game. Really I think he thought we'd get the @orlando as he saved KG for that in hopes of shutting down D and going from there. I believe that was the first game we sat livingston and to me, THAT is why we've come to this situation.

We at the moment, are honestly centered around S Dot, he is our core and our true on court leader. I said this in the last thread, but i'll say it again. Our recently dwindling is because we are down our glue, our core. Hopefully this is just JKidd getting him nicely rested as he knows this fact to be true and wants him to be at 110% come postseason games.

I just hope we put S Dot in, get everyone organized, get the last and final win and seal up 5th seed and just walk off into the postseason knowing that we're ready to crush some teams

Jason Kidd is a players coach.. He knows what type of team he has. He knows that if this team clicks on all cylinders then they're going to be a problem.. That's why he says he's not worried about 5th or 6th seed. He's sending a message to the team and the league. "I'm not worried about who we have to play. They have to play us.." Now we just have to see how the Nets respond. This is going to be an exciting playoffs. I've gotta good feeling about this.

we need this win... i hate going into the playoffs playing horrific basketball for a week. i want to see deron come out and have a big game in a win.

this tanking for the 6th seed stuff makes no sense to me, especially when the bulls/raps arent locked into their spots

im about to speak metaphorically here. It annoys Raptor fans that you guys wanna tank to the 6th spot to face us because we should of just stayed at 4th.

That way we would of gotten Indiana if we made it out. Now we're in a position to get you guys and the Heat in the 2nd round. I was okay with 1 (Wiz/Heat, Nets/Indy) not both smh.

i dont understand why raptors fans are so up in arms over the idea that we would prefer to play you over the bulls.

1) the bulls embarassed us last year on our own floor and crushed us 3 of 4 times this year

2) We split with you this season, and all 4 games were close

im glad the raptors had a good season and have a good team. but you arent the spurs or heat or some team that should put the fear of god into us

I think both teams provide their challenges for us. The bulls beat us last year obviously and their size is tough for us to matchup with. And butler and Hinrich will limit DWill and Johnson.

Raptors have good perimeter play and I fully expect Lowry to dominate his matchup with DWill.

I want the five more than I want to play the bulls or raptors. I think both will be tough series but if we squeeze by I like our chances better against Indy.

The one thing I don't get is that the main reason a number of Raptors fans don't want to play the nets is because of the refs. Not because we have playoff experience, pierce plays well against them, etc. I just see people say the nba wants the Heat/Nets in the 2nd round and will push the nets through. The series was pretty evenly officiated IMO this year. Lowry attempts to draw a number of charges. He drew five in the last meeting. Charges are very subjective usually and it's tough to determine if it should be a blocking foul or charge. You guys seem to get all up in arms when he gets called for a blocking foul. Also if the NBA was in the business of rigging games who would be the 8th seed the Knicks or Hawks?

still no excuse to lose... or at the very least no excuse not to play hard. this team has gone back to do all the things that make me despise them :banghead:

I think that going into the playoff on a losing note is a mistake for this team.

We had regular rotation guys playing against the Knicks and they beat the dog **** out of us because the Nets have been in coast mode here at season's end. Instead of going in focused, they go in lackadaisical with the belief that they can just turn it on in a moment's notice.

mark my words, it doesn't matter the opponent. this team will see some rough playoff nights.

I see our match up with Toronto or Chicago being a 7 game battle.

Yeah, I agree. They are pulling the same coasting attitude the Pierce/KG Celtics would do and this team isn't that great to do it.

You misunderstood. I was saying (metaphorically of course) if you want to face us, we should of just stayed at the 4th spot. You guys would get us and winner would get Indy. Facing you guys or you guys wanting us isnt an issue, its the fact that we now get Miami if we make it out.
