What's sad is that may be the end of Greg Smiths NBA career. Smh should've stayed a extra year in college young man.

Is it that serious? If Greg Oden can come back to the league anyone can. Who's to say he wouldn't get injured playing for Fresno State? He's earned $2 million over 89 NBA games. Not too bad.

IMO, if he's healthy, he's got a definite place in this league. He's got very good hands, and is a terrific finisher. Plus he's a good rebounder too.

Chronicle now says Pittman will be waived, possibly for former Laker PF Josh Powell.

I guess you never know why people get canned, but this has to be one of the shortest call up ever.

Powell's playing in the Philippines right?

Bulls Sign Greg Smith Through Next Season, Waive Tornike Shengelia

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/23 ... -Shengelia

The Chicago Bulls signed free agent Greg Smith to a contract for the remainder of the season and fully guaranteed for next season, a league source told RealGM.

For the Bulls, the signing represents a wise and proactive investment in Smith, a 6-foot-10 center capable of serving as a contributing reserve on a championship caliber team. Despite his season-ending knee injury, Smith was expected to be a valued player in free agency, and only became available when the Houston Rockets released him and he cleared waivers.

Smith, 23, has averaged 5.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in 89 career games over three NBA seasons.

To create room on the roster, the Bulls released Tornike Shengelia.

Shengelia (6-9, 220), was acquired from Brooklyn in exchange for guard Marquis Teague on January 21. He appeared in nine games for the Bulls and averaged 0.4 ppg and 0.2 rpg in 1.9 mpg. In his NBA career, Shengelia has appeared in 45 games and averaged 1.3 ppg, 0.9 rpg and 0.4 apg in 5.5 mpg, while shooting .451 from the field.

So long!  :banghead:

It's unfortunate. I think with the emergence of Jones and DMo it left Smith out of the picture. Really liked his finishing ability. Good luck to him in CHI.

So the Bulls signed Greg Smith now not because he could play, but so that they could workout with him over the offseason?

Well, I guess Greg's injury plus Asik not getting traded doomed his status with the Rockets. Since Greg doesn't have a 3 ptr, he can't play stretch PF like DMo.

D-Mo's 3s aren't stretching no defenses. They want him to take that shot.

Are we clearing space to foster an Asik + other things trade for someone like Carmelo?

There is usually a method behind his madness.

Anyhow, good luck to Smith, I was a fan of his play. Seemed like a nice guy as well.

Is this the shortest NBA stint ever? (Besides those trade and waive deals)

Return to Houston Rockets
