this is pretty much how i feel. all the things i hated about this team all year came full circle the last week heading into the playoffs. no defense, excuses for loses, zero effort, dwill playing scrub ball, and kidd mailing in games cause they 'dont matter'

i dont care if you rest every starter and rotation guy... the object is still to win and be competitive and play with passion. how are we suppose to be in a grove to start a series ON THE ROAD when we have just thrown away games and played with awful effort?

the raps are stomping us in the first 2 games. Kidd has alot to learn.

I'm not sig-betting against my team. That's a whole different level.

And I probably should have amended my statement, because while I fully believe everything I said in the earlier post, I'm not guaranteeing losses for the first two games. I simply don't know what's going to happen.

The Raptors seemed to get tired in their last few games so I could see them not being as intense as they were throughout much of the season.

For us, our road record and the way that we've played in these last few weeks, especially those games where we were fighting for a chance at the 3rd and 4th seeds really disappointed me.

I can understand why they wouldn't care about the difference between the 5th and 6th, but getting the 4th seed gets you HCA was important. Given the big losses that we took in important games lately, it hasn't instilled more confidence in me.

Given the fact that the Raptors just plain tired to me and we either don't care about important games or are actually trying but just sucking, I don't know who to pick in this series.

I can see the Raptors being rejuvenated after a few days off and no B2Bs. I can also see us turning on a switch that we frankly haven't seen most of the season and play to the level that our talent suggests we should be capable of playing at.

I simply have no idea how this series will go.

I see what you mean, I do agree that this Nets team is very unpredictable and anything can happen. They've shown ability to beat elite teams but they've also shown the ability to be completely embarrassed when they're just unfocused and lazy. But I don't think that should be an issue in the playoffs, I think they should be completely focused now, we shouldn't be seeing inconsistency other than off shooting nights.

I don't think that this Raptors team can play at a higher level than what they've already shown in the regular season. I don't think any of their players have another gear in them, at least right now. But I believe that we do have another gear. I think that Deron should play better, along with Pierce, AK, and KG. JJ should continue to do what he has been doing well. Mirza, Thornton and maybe Blatche are X-factors.

Well, he'll get some minutes after Plumlee gets in foul trouble at some point, and KG needs his rest. I just hope he is able to produce in the minutes he does get.

It sucks, because we all know how good Blatche COULD be. When he actually gives a crap and is trying on defense, and isn't doing the same stupid **** over and over again on offense. When he's actually making a concerted effort to post up and play close to the rim. That guy is a force, and easily one of the best backup bigs in the league.

But he rarely plays like that, and you just can't trust him in a playoff series. Good Blatche would be so useful against their front line in a series like this, but we've been getting Bad Blatche for a while now, and I don't see that changing.

i think the blatche stuff is getting really over blown, especially criticism about his effort. he is one of the few guys on this team that plays hard nightly and is competitive.

his BBIQ is pretty abysmal, sure. and he can certainly go into YOLO mode at times. but overall the guy is a plus on the floor and one of the best backup centers in the league. I also think alot of the hate on him is just snowballing.... if you actually go back and look at the last 2 months, rewatch the games and look at the metrics and game logs, he has been good more then he has been bad.

he also has been asked to play more minutes and take a bigger role on both ends because of injuries and rest to other guys. when you can let blatche be a secondary option and keep him closer to the rim your in good shape. when you ask him to anchor your D or to create offense as the main guy you are in trouble.

i think he will be an asset in the playoffs. im looking forward to him splitting time at C and PF and helping us on the glass. im looking for alot out of him an thornton.

to be honest i much more worried about mirza, who is super hot and cold, who has been rough on the road and whose defense and rebound go in the tank when his shot isnt falling

at times, sure it has been. i just think its grossly overstated how often that is. its certainly not more often then not, its just highlighted when it is because of how shaqtin'-a-fool type quality it is when he is going bad.

even with the bad he is among the best backups in the league. especially when you consider he plays most of his minutes with other backups and plays more time then most backup bigs.

its not like he is out there alot with johnson, williams, or pierce.

Plumlee will be taking all of his minutes with Brook back. Blatche leaving won't change a thing. Plumlee is significantly better this year and much more efficient.

Dray is great for depth in the regular season and entertainment purposes but his effort level and shot selection is not good enough for a playoff team.

He could be our version of Zach Randolph with his foot work, jump shot and ball handling and a perfect complement to Brook and Plumlee but he flat out doesn't care about consistency, shot selection or defense. I don't care if he is a bargain backup. That's inexcusable. Especially, when you are still supposed to be fighting to stay on a team after the Wizards debacle.

A fat contract with us will more than likely turn him into JR Smith or OJ Mayo. It's simply not worth it and until he shows up in the payoffs, he should be gone.

Blatche has a history of killing Toronto though. Maybe based on history alone, he should get some burn, and see if he can actually play well. If he is a matchup that keeps giving them problems, then we kind of have to play him, and just take the good with the bad.

Agree that Blatche is far from that bad considering he's a sub. He takes some, shall we say, ill-advised shots but then again he makes a lot of tough ones too. He also makes some dubious plays only to make other solid ones.

Bottom Line - Nets need him...at least for some minutes.
