There were definitely some missed calls by the refs. But it wasn't what cost us the game. Turnovers cost us the game.

Does anyone know how the ESPN broadcasters responded to the officiating? I bet they didn't even mention a thing.

The officiating was no where near as bad as some of you are making it out to be. A few missed calls are bound to happen. We just need to play better, period.

Most of our loss was the turnovers killing us and DeMar being completely invisible, and at times, a liability, and Amir also being invisible. Just inefficiency and turnovers on offense **** us.
That being said, the refs had a clear agenda from tipoff. Hell, the scheduling with all the two day rests for old ass Brooklyn also reeks of bias. I'm not entirely convinced the shot clock malfunction wasn't a convenient ploy to rest Brooklyn's old ass starters. Adam Silver was in the building, after all.
We fail to attack the rim, and worst, we had issue after pick and roll. We simply hovering on the perimeter, and as usual, our biggest weapon is the 3 point shot, which we did a fair job today.
I think the refs already favoured us. The Blatche foul on Lowry as he pushed Lowry when he was trying to get up. Perhaps Lowry acted a little bit. As for Deron on the Lowry elbow, it was difficult to tell, and I couldn't believe it until the replay showed it was either a minor thing.

Reffing was horrible, but the Raptors had enough chances to overcome.

Look when even the Nets beat writers are saying it was a blatant travel there's an issue.
I thought Kyle flipped on Derons charge so I'm not saying the refs were completely on Torontos side. I'm saying the way the 4th quarter was handled was awful. That play ends up being a huge turning point. Overall it was bad on both sides until the 4th where it seemed everything went against Toronto.
Bucher and the Nets beat writer have no affiliation with the Raptors and they are the ones noticing how bad it is.
Although those are noteworthy, it does not take away from the fact that this team needn't rely on the officiating to get us through the game. We were up 76-75 and couldn't close out. It was our horrible defense. Even more, our offense was so poorly constructed, holding the ball at the top of the 3 point line until the shot clock was under 5 multiple times and having isolations for the primary ball handler every time. Weak cutting, lack of screens from off-ball players, and boxing out were majors issues on the offensive end.
It was our offense. Even though defense wasn't the best, and we didn't play Ross nor Salmons, but I suppose we are expecting much better offense with the lineup of Lowry-Vasquez-DeRozan-Patterson-Jonas to close game.
I think the turning point was Lowry jacking up a 3 far beyong the 3 point line at the buzzer. We simply can't create, and the length of the defenders with Garnett down low forced us to stay on the perimeter even after the PnR. I have yet to see Lowry nor Vasquez capable of turning the corner. They played our screens very tight, so our plays don't work as planned.

We had 19 turnovers. How many were a result of bad calls by the refs? 2 or 3? So maybe it should have been 16 turnovers. Still way too many.

Need to actually use Amir Johnson on PP offensively, or else there isn't any reason to have him out there. Need to see more PnR action with Amir rolling to the net.

Really?!
I'll admit we lost the game on our own, nerves and whatnot, but Dwill get's touched on one side and it's a foul and our guys get mauled and it's a play-on.
I'm not saying it cost us the game, just that it was hella-inconsistent / lopsided.

No fouls called in the 4th question
I know a lot of people are complaining about the refs right now, but we should all agree that the Raptors didn't need the refs' help to lose this game. I thought the refs were pretty bad (based on the replays I watched) but that if we had showed up a bit stronger it wouldn't have mattered.
I watched the game on tv and heard Jack Armstrong mention that it must be some kind of record as there wasn't a single foul called on the Nets in the 4th quarter. He said this with about a minute left to play.
Just wondering if anyone has any intel on this as I haven't been able to find any info on games where this has happened. Maybe some of our stat guru's have some resources to find out if this has happened before?

Re: Update: The BIAS referee calling against the Raptors
Things that stood out to me watching the game at the ACC:
- Really ticky-tac fouls on T-Ross early in the game for a playoff game. He was trying to fight through KG screens where KG keeps a wide stance and then juts his hip out as the player is going by. Tough break and it pretty much made him useless the whole game
- Deron Williams gets gifted calls.
- When Williams faked the elbow to the face and Lowry asked the ref to just watch the replay on the board, the ref didn't even bother to look up. I was expecting an even up call or two after that, and nothing
- The Raptors were getting a lot of soft-ish calls in the 2nd quarter that allowed them to get back in the game
- The 4th quarter was partly bad officiating but was largely due to the Raptors playing too much one-on-one and stand-still basketball. They stopped penetrating, they stopped distributing and allowed the Nets to be very physical on defense. The refs were letting them play that way (that kind of defense was not being allowed in the 1st quarter) and the Raptors did absolutely nothing to try and draw more fouls.]
I certainly wouldn't use this game as evidence of the worst of NBA officiating but it wasn't great.

They let them play? Maybe in the 4th but the first half was a joke. I think there were 9 fouls within the first few minutes in the 2nd

I thought referees did a very decent job yesterday. It is a hard game to call, it will always be few misjudged calls maybe, but as a whole it was a very well reffed game. IMO, it disproved the OP completely.

Re: Update: The BIAS referee calling against the Raptors
Let's blame the refs. Hell, the only reason the Raptors were in the game in the first half was the number of times they got to the line.
