Had to record the game, but finally got a chance to watch it.
TOR lost the game, BKN didn't win it. BKN looked like a very average team, but you could tell TOR just was never able to get it going; they beat themselves.
Raps will win this series though.
I expect them to win game 2 and steal 1 of two in BKN. They'll then head back to T.O for game 5, win it, and then win either game 6 or 7.

The constant complaining of the refs before the series even started was already a joke to begin with but right at the start of the game until all the way in the 4th there was still constant complaining smh I've never seen anything like it.
Nothing embarrassing about pointing out facts. For example last year we got screwed to the point that the league made official apologies to the team. I think it was 4 times? So naturally we've come to expect a biased whistle especially when facing HOFers.
The refs didn't cost us this game but there's nothing wrong with pointing out they had screw ups.

I like the optimism and I totally think Toronto does take game 2, but even though the Raptors were close throughout the game, it never really felt like they were in it. You could feel Brooklyn's poise/patience on offense. Impressive stuff.

Really? I like the humble nature of most of the Nets fans around here but the Nets won that game. Their defense and clutch shooting won the game. The Raps not getting it going was because of the length and rim protection. They also held their own on the boards by not getting crushed.
Neither team played their best game, each can play better but the Nets absolutely won that game with good D and PP and JJ hitting clutch shots.
The refs were bad both ways so people need to stop with that. Its embarrassing for your fan base.

I expect a blow out in game 2. I don't see the Nets missing that many threes again.

Something a little more humble and hopeful wouldn't have rubbed so many the wrong way and you probably would have even found more people complimenting the team and fans. And you don't want to give a team like BRK extra motivation by calling their HOF players old. Its disrespectful and counter productive. After all the years of big game ball Pierce has played, he is looking for extra things to motivate him. TOR handed that to him on a silver platter.
And even after this lose, fans still think they will win the series in 6 and don't realize they are the underdogs.
The 180 opposite would be SAS. They have proven a ton, yet the players and fans are amazingly humble. Even after all that SAS has proven, they stay level and focused and continue to achieve at an elite level. They and their fans have a quiet confidence that wins the support of none SAS fans.
I think the respectful way is for the Net's fan to stop taking the Raps lightly and think you'll get to the Heat that easily, if at all. Talk is cheap and it's just one game in a 7 game series. Your Team are older then us and chances are they'll fatigue and be tired as the series goes on. If the Net's and their fans wanted the Raps so much at least we'll do our best to make it an exciting series.

When ? You mean if.
People just taking it as a given that the Nets will advance and that they will be healthy throughout the series and the playoffs?

Lol It's just the raps fans showing support for their team. What do you expect you want their fans to say they'll lose 0-4 or something? We have most people posting because we got a bigger fan base and they are all looking forward to the playsoffs. I dunno why the net's board is so quiet these days.
Still a lot of basketball to be play net fans.

Thanks for sharing your wisdom. No one cares about your opinions on fan etiquette or how one should comport him or herself on an internet message board. You're getting pretentious. And sorry, teacher, but BKN's players are old. It's a chronological fact. They're relatively old when compared to the average player age in the NBA.
You seem to be on some kind of crusade to enlighten Raptor fans and uphold the honor of the Nets. It's lame. Also, Garnett and Peirce are incredibly disrespectful, boorish players who have done nothing to deserve the respect of Raptor fans. Do I think their accomplishments as athletes are impressive? Yes. Do I respect them as people. No. And I don't need to. Get over it. Stop following raptor fans around. You're acting like a missionary at this point.

Valid points, but I still say we take game two. Should be a good one.
They might take game two. That's why we play the games. Because anything can happen.
But it is likely ? Would you pull sig money on it ?
Here is what I see..
It was somewhat close in score but for how many total minutes did TOR hold the lead ? What was the average lead BRK held. How did they respond to TOR's run. Who did BRK take out and how? Can they repeat it ? What there BRKs advantages and can TOR stop them ?
Those are important to realize. BRK lead almost the entire game. This is the playoffs. Its a totally new high pressure experience. And in that environment, TOR still hasn't even experienced what its like to have and protect a lead. That's when you are going to get the best BRK has to offer. i.e. PP icing it with the dagger 3s.
TOR might be able to pull off a win at home. But going into that game, they are still the underdog. Only difference is now they are the underdog down 0-1 having lost game one at home and now they have one game of playoff experience. They have established that Jonas, Lowry and Vasquez can produce in a playoff environment. But the have a lot more to learn and establish before you can predict them winning a game going into it.
There back are now against the wall. The pressure is 100x more. How will they react. Because if they lose this next game, its over.

Saw this in todays paper:

How in the world is that possible??? How do you not have built in redundancy? What is the point of a backup system if it runs on the same source as the original shot clock? This is just embarassing. i mean, its not like its a high school gym, this is a major pro sports arena.

i expected overreaction but THIS is a new level..
the nets won by 7 ... and needed big games from all three of DWill,Joe and PP
thats not excactly a blowout with utter domination wich would lead me to a prediction that then Nets will win this series
Derozan and Ross will not play that bad all the time
and Deron Williams and Joe Johnson wont average 24 each...
so...
am i supressing my memory or is the overreacting this year gone to another Level ?
that goes both ways...
- The nets wont go 4-24 from 3 every game
- Plumlee wont be limited to almost no court time cause of foul trouble every game
- Pierce wont play poorly for 3 of 4 quarters every game
- Val wont go for nearly 20/20 every game
-vazques wont go for 18 on elite shooting every game

Raptors lost because Derozan kept forcing bad shot after bad shot and turning it over. He really is useless if his shot isn't falling. Only way they will win is if he starts making plays for others, which I highly doubt will happen.
I also like Pierce, arguably the best Jayhawk ever.

I admire the passion of the fan base, but if you can't take the post game talk after a loss, don't make it seem like your team can't be beat before the game even begins. Unbelievable.
Seriously... before the game it was:
raps in 4, experience doesnt matter, nets are dinosaurs, F Brooklyn, your team cant handle the ACC crowd, etc...
now its "you guys need to chill"

One game. They won game one. There's a number of things the Raptors did TERRIBLY this game. Terribly. I can say it was the worst they've played in 6 months, easy. The "raps in 4" thing is satire. Everybody knows it. What's worse is how your fanbase has taken it in the other direction and is calling for a sweep. It's not going to happen. The series is going to be hard-fought and long.

yet in a close game was in not pierce scoring 7 straight points to basically ice the game, yet no raptor player stepped up and did that

You haven't been around very long so I'll let you know. Raps in 4 is a RealGM meme, especially on the General Board. If you look on the Raptors forum even their poll didn't have as many Raps in 4 votes although it's a meme over there too. I don't think any Raptor fan actually thought the Raptors could sweep the series.
But understand meme. It wasn't TOR 0-4. It was TOR 4-0
You say its a joke. Well consider what the joke is and how many people were really joking? How many people stood up an said it was a bad joke ? 4-0 being a joke is a ready made excuse just like the refs are.
No, lots of TOR fans felt they had the advantage going in and that they were the favorites and many still do. If they had won 4-0 they would have been saying, see, I told you so. If they had won game one they would all be saying 4-0 baby and streaming from the roof top.
The base has irrational exuberance. A more rational approach would have been... this is awesome we are in the playoffs and even though we are seeded higher, we are still the underdogs, but I like our chances to win this in 6 but if it goes 7, we are in trouble. But its going to be really tough. BRK has all the experience and they do have talent. We have youth and piss and vinegar. Here to hoping we take game 1. If we can do that, I like our chances a lot better but TOR has a lot to prove. The playoffs is not the regular season.
But that isn't even close to how the fans approached the game. And everyone on the board sees it and judges their basketball knowledge by that and its why even fans that actually respect the TOR team want to see them lose so the TOR fans learn some humility. Also, you aren't helping your players giving vets like PP press clippings as motivation.
If you want the honey, you don't poke the bee hive. You smoke the bees to sleep and take it without getting stung.
But life if about learning lessons.
