I think the respectful way is for the Net's fan to stop taking the Raps lightly and think you'll get to the Heat that easily, if at all. Talk is cheap and it's just one game in a 7 game series. Your Team are older then us and chances are they'll fatigue and be tired as the series goes on. If the Net's and their fans wanted the Raps so much at least we'll do our best to make it an exciting series.

LOL... with the way raps fans talked pre-game your gonna ge ton nets fans for being confident?

Also, the age thing is silly. outside of pierce and garnett the entire nets team is either players in their prime or young guys. to think these guys will get fatigued with like 2 off days between the games in the first round after they were rested all year by kidd is just comical

What I don't believe is that the Nets can beat the Heat... if the raps are giving them problems to win a game.. there is no way they beat the Heat...

Good Luck everybody... this is going to be a looooonnnngg series...

BRK vs MIA will be a totally different match up. MIA isn't as athletic/young as TOR and don't have a big.

Every series creates different match ups.

I have no idea how the MIA/BRK series would go, but BRK/TOR is not the reference point.

The heat and spurs were the oldest and 5th oldest teams in the NBA last year. and outside of 2 players, the nets arent old at all

TOR lost the game, BKN didn't win it. BKN looked like a very average team, but you could tell TOR just was never able to get it going; they beat themselves.

Raps will win this series though.

I expect them to win game 2 and steal 1 of two in BKN. They'll then head back to T.O for game 5, win it, and then win either game 6 or 7.

See, this is exactly my point. LOL

TOR was and still are the underdogs. Until they actually hold a lead for more than 1 min, I wouldn't be predicting any wins.

We boo'd, heckled, and cussed the crap out of BKN and they still came through consistently. They were able to stop a lot of the momentum we had going for us. That's just veteran exp at the next level. Deron started off hot, JJ consistent through all 4, and Pierce closed it. These guys know how to win.
Toronto is getting there but BKN is showing the grit to how to win in the playoffs and I had no doubt that they would.
I hope Raptors can bounce back in game 2 with adjustments to keep it entertaining.

You do realize that Masai is a far more accomplished, intelligent GM then your money haemorrhaging, near-sighted, czar, right?

And were you just comparing the Nets to the Spurs? LOL.

cool.

i was comparing the age of the nets to the ages of the teams in last years finals,... in response to the notion that the nets being "old" will leave themf atigued later in this series and be a major obstacle in them advancing to the second round.

Brooklyn borough president Eric Adams' unofficial Brooklyn retort to Ujiri's mic-drop moment.

"It's unfortunate that the Raptors' GM felt so desperate facing against our Nets that he would throw profanity around discussing our beloved borough, but I can't say I'm surprised. After all, Brooklyn is a classier place. Just compare Babs to Biebs, or spend some time with their...colorful mayor. Still, we spread love; it is, after all, the Brooklyn way.

"Rather than mess with verbal barbs, I say it's 'put up or shut up time', Toronto! I'm willing to send up North some of Brooklyn's best if the Raptors can prevail, perhaps a six-pack from Brooklyn Brewery or a CD from the First Family of hip-hop. The ball is in Mayor Ford's court to meet the challenge.

"Let's go Nets!"

Stay classy Brooklyn and Nets fans.

Also, what is the point of this age argument?

The 6 oldest team in the league
1. Miami
2. Brooklyn
3. LAC
4. Chicago
5. Dallas
6. SAS

I don't know you you define Prime or young... but...

6 Alan Anderson SF 31 6-6 220 Michigan State $947,907

98 Jason Collins C 35 7-0 255 Stanford $275,691
2 Kevin Garnett C 37 6-11 253 $12,433,735
13 Jorge Gutierrez PG 25 6-3 195 California $54,785
7 Joe Johnson SG 32 6-7 240 Arkansas $21,466,718
47 Andrei Kirilenko SF 33 6-9 235 $3,183,000
14 Shaun Livingston PG 28 6-7 175 $884,293
11 Brook Lopez C 26 7-0 275 Stanford $14,693,906

8 Deron Williams PG 29 6-3 209 Illinois $18,466,130

AK @ 33, Dwill @ 29, JJ at 32? Still Prime? I think you are talking out of your mind there. You should really check up on the facts before you post, or risk embarrassing yourself.

Lol It's just the raps fans showing support for their team. What do you expect you want their fans to say they'll lose 0-4 or something? We have most people posting because we got a bigger fan base and they are all looking forward to the playsoffs. I dunno why the net's board is so quiet these days.

Still a lot of basketball to be play net fans.

I think what people respect is something a little more intellectually honest and respectful. Nothing wrong with loving your team and wanting them to win but thinking a team with no playoff experience was really a favorite to a team with the players and playoff experience that BRK has isn't showing the balance between fandom and basketball knowledge that earns the respect of non TOR fans. Something a little more humble and hopeful wouldn't have rubbed so many the wrong way and you probably would have even found more people complimenting the team and fans. And you don't want to give a team like BRK extra motivation by calling their HOF players old. Its disrespectful and counter productive. After all the years of big game ball Pierce has played, he is looking for extra things to motivate him. TOR handed that to him on a silver platter.

And even after this lose, fans still think they will win the series in 6 and don't realize they are the underdogs.

The 180 opposite would be SAS. They have proven a ton, yet the players and fans are amazingly humble. Even after all that SAS has proven, they stay level and focused and continue to achieve at an elite level. They and their fans have a quiet confidence that wins the support of none SAS fans.

Thanks for sharing your wisdom. No one cares about your opinions on fan etiquette or how one should comport him or herself on an internet message board. You're getting pretentious. And sorry, teacher, but BKN's players are old. It's a chronological fact. They're relatively old when compared to the average player age in the NBA.

You seem to be on some kind of crusade to enlighten Raptor fans and uphold the honor of the Nets. It's lame. Also, Garnett and Peirce are incredibly disrespectful, boorish players who have done nothing to deserve the respect of Raptor fans. Do I think their accomplishments as athletes are impressive? Yes. Do I respect them as people. No. And I don't need to. Get over it. Stop following raptor fans around. You're acting like a missionary at this point.

So are the SAS players to old to be good ?

Hey, act how you want. But don't be surprised when posters respond to you the way they do.

And for the record, your name calling speaks for itself. I won't respond in kind because that never get anywhere on a message board. Save you insults for face to face exchanges where people can take you up on them.

As for KG. I think even a BRK or BOS fans would admit KG can be a real tool. He was a talented tool. So was Rodman. PP though ? PP is no KG when it comes to that kind of stuff. But come on. Hansbrough is a total tool and I say that as someone who appreciates what he does at times. Never bad to have a Hansbrough on your team. Every team needs a player that can get under the other teams skin at times.

Drake getting in on this:

Drake, the Raptors' rapper, is an adviser to his hometown team. He didn't put down any money to buy a piece of the team or arena like his Brooklyn counterpart did, didn't compose a song about his hometown that became the city's anthem and certainly didn't bring a world-famous wife to games. But hey, he's a kid. He might accomplish one of those things.

Saturday, he took to the airwaves, sitting aside the Raptors' TV team, offering analysis, including a dig at Jay-Z. He, suggested that he remains a man of the people while Jay-Z "is somewhere eating a fondue plate." No word from Jay on that one ... or on giant posters of his wife held by fans at courtside.

Then, again as Steve Popper of The Record tweeted of the Canadian city...

Toronto - the only place on earth where the front office executive and mayor are tougher than rap star?
1:30 PM - 19 Apr 2014

That of course a reference to the expletive-spouting GM, Masai Ujiri and the crack-smoking mayor, Rob Ford. God forbid, Ford offers a friendly bet to his New York counterpart. You never know what you'll get when the Nets win.

Talentwise the raptors have enough to win, but not with a disinterested T.Ross and D.Derozan. Either way this series will separate the men from the boys, a lot of maturity from Valanciunas and Lowry.
