Re: The Trade Thread
I don't understand why ORL wants McLemore... where is he going to play? Moving Afflalo is to open up a permanent spot for Oladipo, right? McLemore isn't anything but a 2, that's for sure, and he's barely that.

I thought ORL was grooming Oladipo as a PG?

Re: The Trade Thread
They tried it, and it pretty much sucked. He can defend the 1, but he probably can't play it on O. Turnover machine.
If Oladipo and McLemore are your guards, no one else on the team is going to get set up for a shot, because neither of those two can pass.

They should try to trade Monroe for Ibaka. He would fit great next to Drummond. OKC needs a low post scorer and we need defense. I think it would be a fair offense for defense trade.

Ibaka is not a offensive threat, he does what Dre does just paid more

Ibaka has a pretty nice jumpshot.

That's why I said it would be an offense for defense trade. We need defense more than offense.
With Drummond's low post game developing, along with his pick&roll lobs and put backs, we'd manufacture enough frontcourt scoring with Dre/Ibaka. Serge has a decent jumpshot too.

i'm a Moose homer, so i think we'd be better with moose, however your point is sound

Re: The Trade Thread
You guys have to be kidding, right? Monroe for Ibaka? Ibaka is a much, much better player than Moose, and OKC isn't hurting for offense.
Instead of delving into a ton of stats, I'll just stick to this:
Ibaka, 13-14
Offensive Win Shares -- 5.2
Defensive Win Shares -- 4.4
Monroe, 13-14
Offensive Win Shares -- 3.7
Defensive Win Shares -- 2.3
And please don't say Ibaka can't play offense. His mid-range J is so much better than Monroe's it's not even funny. He shot 54% (which is darn near a career LOW) at an average distance of 10.6 feet. He also shot 78% from the line, although he only had 2.5 attempts per game. Monroe? 50%, but at an average distance of 5.0 feet. He took higher percentage shots, and yet made them less. Also only 66% from the line, albeit with a much better 4.5 attempts per game.
Ibaka is better than Monroe on BOTH ends. Now it certainly helps to have the game's premiere scorer on your team to draw attention away from you and get open shots, and Monroe's certainly better down low (on offense, anyway), but I bet OKC wouldn't trade us Ibaka for a resigned Monroe AND our #8 pick (if such a thing were possible, and it isn't). It's not close.

Re: The Trade Thread
i don't like the idea of trading moose for jump shooting though. at least his post game is something you can always go to in the half court late in games. you can't count on ibaka to knock down jump shots in those situations. that's why, in my personal opinion, i'd rather have a potentially dominant frontcourt like moose and drummond than a lights out shooting backcourt like curry and thompson.

If Smart doesn't fall, there are some legit options for the PG position. My best, if the Raptors keeps Lowry, is a Darren Collison and Patty Mills combo. That's not what we need but is a sustancial improvement of Jennings.

Of course Ibaka is better. That's why I want to trade Monroe for him
I don't think its as unrealistic as you think though to get OKC interested. If they don't win a championship soon, eventually they'll start looking to mix up that roster and try to address what they are lacking, and a low post scoring big is without a doubt the #1 thing they lack.
Ideally if you are OKC, you would like to get that big and keep Ibaka too, but they don't really have any other assets to acquire one without using him as trade bait. So they may be forced to trade him if they want a post scorer, and there aren't a lot available besides Monroe.
I guess it depends how desparate they are this summer if they come up short again.

Re: The Trade Thread
Pistons out: JSmoove, Jennings, Singler
Pistons in: Deron Williams, Tayshaun Prince
Memphis out: Zach Randolph, Tayshaun Prince
Memphis in: Josh Smith, Mirza Teletovic, Kyle Singler
Nets out: Deron Williams, Mirza Teletovic
Nets in: Zach Randolph, Brandon Jennings
Memphis saves ~$7 mil in the deal, swaps Randolph out for a younger/cheaper piece in Smith and adds two shooters. Nets move the Williams contract, can play a 3 big rotation of Lopez/Randolph/Garnett and have a pg fill in. We flip Smennings for Williams, a guy who should be a big upgrade at PG.

Man, you know DWill has fallen off a cliff if he's being proposed by trades like this. Otherwise, it really depends on if both teams fall flat in this playoff run and get desperate.
We have to pray a fringe playoff team somehow covets Smith.

Prince doesn't seem like a starting caliber player anymore. I rather keep Smith and give him a chance with a good coach before I bring Prince back. I like your idea of trading Jennings/Singler for D. Williams though.

1) Memphis laughs very hard at this. Randolph for Josh and scrubs. Not a chance in hell.
2) Nets laughs very hard at this. Deron for Zach and Jennings, hell no. Deron is as close to a superstar as they will get. Nets say hell no.
3) Pistons say hell yes.

Probably, I was just trying to think of alternatives to the same old "lets trade Smennings to the NYK" ideas. The Grizz signed Smith to an offer sheet once upon a time, but that was a completely different regime.

No worries. Randolph is on a whole other level from Josh Smith. They wouldn't make a lateral move like this unless they get much more in return.
I really do think that it will be extremely hard to move either Jennings or Smith this year. But, there is no rush as next summer they will be much easier to move.

Smith is younger than ZBo. I'd love this trade.
