It's early but this team is smelling more and more like 2013.

Has he lost some velocity?

I think so. Looks like he was topping out at like 93 the other night, and was the same on Opening Day.

But Stras's biggest problem is if he's not absolutely on point, he completely falls apart. Dude is the most mentally weak SP I've ever seen. The best Ps can pitch good games even with their C or B stuff, but Stras can't. It's really frustrating.

Anyways...at least we got the win last night. Another game we had to come back to win, but I'll take a series W anytime.

Now got a 4 game series against the Cardinals. We really need to show up and prove we can beat a good team.

No visiting pitcher had ever thrown a CGSO at CBP until Teheran yesterday and Wood just missed today.

Aaron Harang just threw 7 no hit innings, and leads the majors with a 0.7 ERA now.

Yeah, but that's what I/we all said last year and look what happened.

Anyways...went to the game yesterday, good come from behind win. Walk offs are always great, although a walk off sac fly is not really as exciting, but you gotta take the W.

Stras pitched a good but not a shutdown elite ace kind of game. And we still suck balls hitting with RISP. But I'll take a split against the Cards considering how much they've owned us.

Think of how good the Nats record would be if St. Louis and Atlanta weren't on the schedule. Lol

Or I guess the Angels...another loss last night that wasn't even close.

Sick of this team and how often we fall behind the first couple innings.

This is a repeat of 2013. Thank god the Wizards are in the playoffs and could make a nice run and then the World Cup is on this summer, don't want to waste more time following this loser heartless club.

Someone needs to test Aaron Harang for roids, or water from the Fountain of Youth, or something. He's been amazing this month. He made the Marlins look... well... like a lesser form of the Marlins.

I'm so pleasantly surprised with how well Harang has been pitching. I was worried about him when we signed him at first due to his 5.76 ERA last season but he's put all that doubt to rest. Our rotation has been the best in the majors so far this season, and Minor hasn't even come back yet (coming back on Saturday)/

So, Michael Pineda was ejected from tonight's Yanks/Sawx game for having (what looked to be) pine tar on his neck.

Idiot.

Buccholz better not have a foreign substance anywhere visible for the foreseeable future. I expect teams to take a run at them on this issue because of it.

but it was STUPID and OBVIOUS on Pineda's part.

Pineda might be the dumbest pitcher out there and how does a teammate/coach not tell him to hide that better? I have no idea what he was thinking? Makes it obvious against the Red Sox last time and then does it again and expects the Red Sox not to call him out on it?

I'm not saying he didn't deserve some sort of reprimand, but pine tar being used by pitchers isn't anything new, he just wasn't very coy about it.

When does the league make some sort of zero tolerance rule to reinforce how they don't want people doctoring the ball?

I agree this is not something new. However I would say the obviousness is the issue here, he had to have known the Sox would be looking into it and yet he made it obvious again. I think minor league is automatic 10 games, so this seems fine to me.

I'm not sure how MLB could enforce this rule when guys are actually hiding it? It's going to be hard to see if a guy has it on the glove or a catcher has it on his pants/pads. Even look at Buchholz last year with what looked to be a heavy dose of sunscreen on his arms. Not sure MLB can say no you can't use sunscreen.

Don't be obvious and you don't get caught.

0-16 with RISP.

2014 Nats, same as the 2013 Nats.
