When Stephen A gets called out or made look stupid he gets defensive and doesn't have a good comeback.

I resent that they're essentially calling Jax a liar right now.

This whole station (with the Daily News' help) is going after Phil at this point. It's surreal.

This is Phil's litmus test for Melo.

The first one, anyway.

Also the last one if he fails it.

They're agenda is always to go against the status quo. And make the situation worse than it is. Phil says Dolan has been true to his word yet this radio station is questioning that. However they have no problem believing everything their media buddy Frank Isola has to say.

Well I think the "pushing" comes into play if whether or not you think Melo responds well to this type of public challenge in the media. Usually when Melo is called out by someone in the media.. i.e. when Woody spoke about his conditioning or when Phil talked about his sticky hands he doesn't agree with what's been said.

If this kind of talk causes him to leave then we are fortunate ;)

Me personally.. a labeled "melo-hater" by the youngins  .. I don't think Melo just reads what Phil said in todays presser and is exactly thrilled with how it went down. The majority of NBA players.. I would say 95% of them don't like to be talked about in the media and 100% of them don't like to be criticized in the media... because now he has to answer questions if anyone runs into him in Aruba or the Bahamas or whatever beach he and the family are sunning at.

If anyone understands that, it is Phil. As a coach, he was very cognizant about what affected the lives of players off the court.

I agree with the notion that he's trying to throw Melo off and challenge him. I don't think he's necessarily pushing him out the door though.

This is nothing new, though, Phil's been trolling his players in the media all the time.

Excellent point. They'd rather believe Isola's questionable anonymous source than the words coming right out of Jackson's mouth.

They should've been around when you and I first went at it, when the trade went down. You were anything but a hater.

I know. I gave Melo his chance to validate my words.. but he didn't. I'm not going to give my benefit of the doubt out to a stranger more than one time. I never expected a 37 win season though. That was pretty bad.

Michael Kay is going to start his show at 3pm on the same topic, and Dave Rothenberg will do the same at 7pm tonight.

SAS is probably not happy Woody was sent packing rather unceremoniously. He's probably also not thrilled with Phil drawing such a hard line with Melo. And CAA, isn't he repped by them?

Jackson wants Carmelo to take less when he is making 12 million a year. That conversation won't go well.

Carmelo is getting awful advice if he opts out and is going to regret it. I really think carmelo is in middle of something larger. I think his agency sold him on the idea of opting out. And its because his agency is no longer calling shots for Dolan when it comes to their clients.

And there is no pre arranged agreement between Jackson and carmelo to take a specific lesser contact. If there was it would be fully understood that this needs to wait a year. And 25 million to be a part of a redirection is well worth it.

Carmelo is going to be forced to choose between his agency and the Knicks. His agency ain't letting him take less, long term, because we might do something next year. That's just awful advice. Plus carmelo himself said he don't want to wait.

Carmelo is opting out to leave. He might not even know it yet. It makes no sense. Its bad financial advice. Bad career advice. Caa would be fast to tell him this is a bad move. So it must be their idea. They are using him because they are mad they are not running the Knicks anymore.

Phil is getting paid 1M for each of the rings he has with a hometown discount of 2 for 1 as a player with the Knicks.

What's Melo's excuse?

I'm not going to argue with you. Carmelo Anthony will not take a huge pay cut to stay on the Knicks. Team is very limited talent wise.

Taking less money to play on Houston would be a better option. Playing with a young star SG will add years to Carmelo career. That is fact. Don't forget Carmelo Anthony played with Iverson. I'm pretty sure he can deal with Harden who was a better facilitator than Westbrook in OKC.

Playing chicken with Carmelo through the media is not a good look for Phil.
