Pistons definitely won't do it. Monroe more than likely doesn't want to play with a rookie PG and if we pick Smart he'll play the 2 and part-time 1.
i don't pretend to know what Monroe does or doesn't want. I do know that we need a change at PG, and at #7-8. Smart is tremendous value. we need a player who is effective with the ball in his hands, smart is that player, he's also has the skill set to defend effectively in this league. and yes he can play the 2.
Like to remind you that we had a similar record with a developing pg in Knight and less talent surrounding him.
I look at it like this. If we're trying to develop a PG we would have kept Knight. We traded Knight for a more developed PG who could distribute(over 8apg while Cheeks coached), can shoot the 3pter, and one who's around the same age as Monroe. I hope we pick Smart if we get our lottery pick, but I don't see Smart taking over Jennings spot as our starting 1 unless he proves he's better.
Yeah, that's sad to say we ended up with the same record. No excuse there.

The feeling i got from reading extensive amount of articles is that the FO loved knight but due to Gores idiotic stipulations, needed a more ready PG now. We basically traded Defense for offense, and found out that it didn't help us much.
Jennings will start day 1 over smart, but i gurantee his play as well as our teams ability to defend is going to force that change.

Boston gets to draft a perfect fit for their roster in Gary harris as well. honestly what's not to like about this deal for both sides??

Green still available. I wouldn't mind Smith for Green/filler.

I would be open minded to that idea. What about getting Green and playing him off the bench behind Smith? Our team would be stacked!
Pistons get: Green
Celtics get: Singler, Jerebko, Bynum (expiring package)
Jennings
KCP/Green
Smith/Green
Monroe/Smith
Drummond/Monroe

I'll do you one better- http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=m7mweyz
Josh Smith for Jeff Green and Keith Bogans.
Bogans will add a bit of veteran leadership, and corner shooting. Green is a far and away upgrade over Smith concerning the small forward position.
Smith and his long lost love, Rondo are reunited in Beantown, and we get hilarious columns bashing Smith from Bill Simmons for the next 3 years.
Also, we keep Singler- which I'd prefer.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I don't think anyone here would want to trade Drummond for this package especially if Orlando is only picking 3rd.
so you can bet on gores giving it serious consideration

i'll pass on green. he's perfectly average in all aspects of the game. i'd rather give KCP and singler more burn at that point.
if this is the only avenue we have to get rid of smith, i guess it could be worse.

I'm not terribly high on Green. But, I'll take the cheaper guy who's average, than the overpaid turd that's awful at most everything.

yeah, i guess that'd be an improvement lol, but we should be thinking big picture.
some quick info i looked up on green: according to 82games.com, boston scored 3.9 more points per 100 possessions with green OFF the court, and gave up 1.9 less points per 100 possessions with green OFF the court.

Smith is -3.5 and -4. Still a noted improvement.

I don't know man. I don't think Green is consistent enough to be a starter. He's also terrible at rebounding the ball, that dude will have games where he only grabs 1-3 rebounds. I want him coming off the bench for us because he's a huge upgrade over Singler, especially defensively. Plus he's friends with Moose.
I think Rondo will be traded in the off-season. The Celtics are about to clean that roster out and start young.

Nice counter-points. If Rondo is traded, Boston definitely isn't touching Smith.

1. Jump into the top 3
2. Get wiggins
3. Trade smith for Green.
4. Allow green to play in the Odom 2010 role off the bench.

Boston gets: Dion Waiters, Josh Smith
Why? Young shooting guard to pair with Rondo and his BFF
Cleveland trades: Dion Waiters, Luol Deng (S&T)

Why for Cleveland? Established vet forwards to go with Kyrie
Detroit trades: Greg Monroe (S&T), Josh Smith
