F*** the pucks!

Hockey will always be #1 here but its so nice seeing the Raps being able to draw a very respectable audience despite being on TSN2, SN1 almost all year and being up against a ton of hockey in round 1

Much better number then game one. Impressed, should grow even more for games 3 & 4 away.

Apparently it was also the 2nd highest watched game on YES ever, as well. They averaged 256k average views on their network.

Those Nets fans got a little taste of Jurassic Park, and tuned in for the Lost World sequel.

I wonder how many people watched it on NBA TV? Seems possible that more people watched the game in Canada than in the US.

I actually watched a chunk of it, the kings/ sharks series too. If teams hate each other games are fun to watch regardless of of sport, these teams hate each other!

Nobody is cheering for the Habs except for people in Quebec FYI.

lol That's not true.

**** the Habs. Never could understand cheering for a team just because it's a Canadian city. I've lost a lot of interest over the years for hockey, but one thing is certain, I will always hate the Habs and Sens.

Not very telling. From what I see, the Raptors biggest fan base is young people, who were probably watching the game on their computer. I think in 10 years, the Raptors will be almost even with the Leafs in terms of popularity in Canada.

Why? Have you ever seen the types of ratings Sunday and Monday night football games get in the US even when it's two crappy teams playing? A game between the Browns and Bills will still draw a ton of viewers.

The NHL has the same level of popularity in Canada as the NFL does in the states.

It's not just Canada you should have a beef with.
Interviewer: Championship #2?
Ujiri: Hey...We're gonna get it. I don't know when it'll be, but we're gonna get it. Just like I said we'll get the first one and I said I didn't know when we'd get it...But we will. Guarantee you we will.

It's funny how TSN kept on showing that graphic telling people to switch over to the Bruins-Wings game on TSN2 in the 4th quarter....

As i live in Europe, i'm not confortable discussing numbers or tv shares but u are saying that tsn had 610000 viewers?
Toronto as what, 4 million people? And Canada? I think canadians dont like basketball at all with those numbers... If it was a NHL playoff game what would the number of viewers be like?

My Euro Brother, Toronto has 6.5 Million people. Canada has 35 million people. In Europe the average attendance for the Euro league final was 15169 in 2012. Yesterday for the first round of the playoffs the Raptors sold out the arena with 19800 seats sold at $317 a ticket average. That's about 250 Euros. That's the highest ticket price in the NBA.

Canada likes Basketball very much. By the way what do the Euro league playoff tickets cost? Do you know how many people watch the games on Euro TV?

I'm happy basketball getting more popular in Canada, but you should not look into Euro numbers for comparison as you would be disappointed. When for example Zalgiris (local Lithuanian team) goes deep (final four) in the Euroleague (granted its been a long time they did so), the TV audience was higher than the Raptors last game coverage. Mind you Lithuania has about 12 times smaller population than Canada.

TV audience obviously depends on the matchups. In Barcelona-Olympiacos Euroleague final 4 game, TV audience in Spain average 891k (peaked 1,2mln) and averaged 1,044 mln in Greece (peaked 1,885 mln). And again, have in mind Greece has 3 times lower population yet average over 1mln audience per game.

And it's not like basketball is number #1 sport in Europe, just like its battling Hockey in Canada, here football (americans would call soccer) reigns all over TV channels..

The majority of Canadians actually laugh at people who sit and watch other people play sports.

Toronto FC ratings.......terrible.

EDIT: And the NHL ratings in the US are awful - maybe good by NHL standards - but awful. They didn't even beat a rerun of Full House. FULL HOUSE!!!!

Masai's team is owned by TV networks, Tim L. is currently trying to get a better situation for Raps broadcasts, and their tired of being ignored down south. Masai knew what he was doing with his F Brooklyn comment. If we advance to round to I fully expect him to claim he slept with LeBron's mom.
