I've been to IL games, NWL and FSL games but never been to one in the PCL.

Any idea why AJ Jimenez is missing games in AA? Even the games that he catches (like last nite), he is replaced by another cathcher after 2-3 ABs. Did he get injured again or something else the matter?

Also, any news on where and when Dantzler and Tellez will start playing?

Jimenez had an issue with his hamstring. He was on the DL for a while and I assume that would be why they're not allowing him to catch a full nine yet.

Dantzler stayed back in Extended to rehab something apparently minor. Doesn't look like he's been assigned to a full season team yet but I would be stunned if he stays in Extended beyond his rehab stint until Short Season begins. That would be a terrible decision on the organization's part.

I wouldn't be surprised though if Tellez remains in Extended until Short Season begins, if for no other reason than already having Dean/Nay in Lansing.

Nice to see he's doing a better job keeping the ball in the park, picking up from last year. Time to cut RickyRo loose and bump Deck up?

God, that's impressive. I'd like to see games in all of those leagues.

I've actually never been to a minor-league game, but this year I'll be on the West Coast for a bit, so I'll probably see a PCL game in California or Nevada. PCL games in Sacramento are twice the price as those in Reno and nearly four times the price as those in Salt Lake City—so I think I might go to SLC and sit behind home plate.

And definitely an IL game in Buffalo, too.

Yep, once the short season and rookie ball leagues start up in mid June ( Vancouver, Bluefield and the GCL Jays ), extended ST ends so everyone will be assigned to a team.

Due to his age, Tellez would likely start in Bluefield, although Vancouver is a possibility.

Dantzler hopefully would be assigned to either Lansing or Dunedin before that point. I don't understand why we would send him back to Vancouver after the success he already had there last season.

It was a day game after a night game for NH yesterday, so it's understandable that Jimenez wouldn't play.

They'll likely be extra cautious with him for a while, just to ensure his hamstring issue isn't re aggravated and lose more development time as a result.

You'll have a blast. It's amazing to see the difference between the road to the show and the show. Minor league productions are so novel and grassroots. It's a great opportunity to see some future stars

That's the beauty of minor league games. You can sit in seats that you'd never dream of dropping that kind of money on for a big league game.

I've been hooked on minor league baseball ever since the series Baseball, Minnesota first appeared on FX.

Remember the scene in the Untouchables where Elliot Ness gets the corrupt judge to swap juries? How about we swap the Dunedin Blue Jays for the Toronto Blue Jays. I'd rather watch prospects right now. BTW, Matt Boyd is having a tremendous start tonight - two-hit shutout with 9Ks through five.

Boyd is up to 12Ks through 8... still just two hits allowed, no walks.

He's retired 16 straight, seven via strikeout.

And that's how his night ended. exceptional outing, and given he is a college arm, you have to think he will be promoted before too much longer (June?). FSL seems not to be challenging for him. Don't know if he has an MLB arm, but he sure has mastered this level.

And Dalton Pompey was 2-3 with a pair of walks. Average now at .358.

Dunedin's Boyd continues to dominate FSL
Blue Jays prospect strikes out 12 in eight innings, drops ERA to 0.29

Matt Boyd entered this season with more endurance, strength and a very expensive piece of paper.

His offseason training while completing his degree at Oregon State has helped the Blue Jays prospect get off to a dominant start in the Florida State League.

On Friday night, Boyd recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts and allowed two hits over eight innings as Class A Advanced Dunedin blanked Clearwater, 5-0, at Bright House Field.

"Everything was working, all four pitches -- fastball, changeup, curveball, slider," he said after improving to 4-0 with a league-leading 0.29 ERA. "Derrick Chung, my catcher, caught a great game; he was calling a great game. He was keeping my tempo moving, had his foot on the gas, getting ahead of the count, which really helped."

The 23-year-old left-hander allowed a double to Harold Martinez in the second inning and a bunt single to Brian Pointer in the third but set down the next 16 Threshers.

"I feel great. I expect to go nine every time," Boyd said after the longest start of his two-year Minor League career. "Guys behind me are making great plays, been some key double plays and great stops. Defense has been flawless. They're fun to play in front of."

Boyd (4-0) made five appearances with Class A Lansing last summer after Toronto selected him in the sixth round of the Draft. Then it was off to Dunedin, where he pitched four hitless innings in his FSL debut on Aug. 17. But he ran into trouble in his next two outings, giving up six runs over six frames.

"Last year in the Florida State League, I felt pretty good on the whole. I just had one bad outing, one bad inning, really," the Washington native said. "[Then,] I figured out my routine, to take the good from each start and learn from the bad ones, and it's been awesome."

Boyd worked during the offseason to prepare his body and arm for his first full Minor League season. He built up his arm strength and durability so he would be ready to pitch in September and October.

The results have been impressive: Boyd leads the FSL with four wins, a 0.29 ERA, 37 strikeouts and 31 innings pitched.

After throwing approximately 85 pitches, the D-Jays ace turned the ball over to Efrain Nieves, who pitched a perfect ninth to finish off Dunedin's Minor League-leading sixth shutout. The Jays also sit atop the North Division with a 16-5 record.

K.C. Hobson drew four walks, including one with the bases loaded, while Marcus Knecht drove in two runs for Dunedin.

Clearwater starter Brody Colvin (0-1) gave up two runs on two hits and three walks with one strikeout over three innings.

Jairo Labourt is having a wee bit of trouble with his control. 12.9 walks per 9 innings to be precise, which is a major step back after he seemed to harness his stuff in rookie ball last year.
