or did I just give a lurking Miami fan evidence to fuel the "**** McRoberts" campaign?

Wow! It's not McRobert's first time going all Macho Man Randy Savage on LeBron James? Great find 'LamarMatic7'

I'm fine with keeping Josh and starting him if he works on taking and hitting 3's more consistently in the offseason. With his size, he needs to be aggressive and on Ryan Anderson's level to warrant a starting spot.

That's unlikely to happen though, isn't it?

If McRoberts' take his 3-point shooting to the level of efficiency & assertiveness as Ryan Anderson combined with his other skills, Zeller will be a career backup as far as the Hornets is concerned. I'm actually encouraging McRoberts to put the work in though now that you've put that possibility out there

I think he'll have another 10+ years in the league and he has enough size/athleticism and IQ to get there... He's been better than I expected in the playoffs. Just needs to not hesitate and take the wide open 3 chances he gets.

And Zeller off the bench is not a negative unless he wants a trade to start for another team in the future, which I don't think he will. Zeller too will have a long career I think and can be a great sub with his matchup problems on offense

here is the list of power forwards and centers who made more 3s with a better % than mcroberts in 2013-14 (105 3s at 36.1%)

1. kevin love
2. channing frye
3. mirza teletovic
4. dirk nowitzki
5. spencer hawes

thats it

saying mcroberts needs to improve at 3s to retain his starting job isnt really fair.

I know he was decent this season, not disputing that. I would like to see him up that number from 1.3 three's made a game to around 2, even if his percentages dip a bit. If we are going to continue to start MKG and Henderson, we really can't afford to have meager points from the starting PF spot as well. If he plays all season like hes playing right now in the playoffs, then his spot is awesomely secure.

McRoberts needs to improve his rebounding and defense to keep a starting job, you cant play a PF 30mins and him get less than 5 rebounds that is just terrible

and here are all of the power forwards and centers who had a season of making at least one 3 per game at a .350% clip while averaging at least 4 assists.

1. Lamar Odom
2. Kevin Love
3. Josh McRoberts

I've made this point a million times before. Rebounds per game can be a misleading stat. We're a great rebounding team and we're better at rebounding when McRoberts is on the floor. Him boxing out is what matters.

As far as his defense goes, I don't know whether he'll improve much there. His lateral quickness is limited and opposing forward regularly take advantage of it. That doesn't change the fact that he knows where to be on defense and is our defensive anchor as far as shouting out picks and communicating is concerned.

His D and rebounding are fine (MKG and Jefferson and Zeller all take care of rebounds). Just would like for him to magically turn into Kevin Love on offense. One can pray, right?

I too would like to see McRoberts improve, or for a better use of words, become more assertive from beyond the arc after a full offseason of tuning up. The improvement he made from his career from there until this season has been more than stellar and impressive. I will no longer question his presence or lack of 'grit' on the floor with the starting unit again, but I would like to see him make himself more of a scoring threat

10-12 points per game is achievable, and commendable

We better resign him.

"It was a great experience playing for Cliff this year, and I hope to play for him for a long time… I want to come back and build on what we were able to do this year. I think we have a good core group of guys and I love the staff here. I hope to be a part of the future moving forward... I love playing with Al. I think Al can fit well with a lot of people, you just have to throw him the ball (laughs). I had a lot of fun playing with Al and look forward to playing with him more." -Josh McRoberts

Love this guy.

what is a fair contract offer for mcroberts, assuming he opts out of the 2.8mil that is owed?

4 years, 14 million? average of 3.5
3 years, 12 million? average of 4
2 years, 9 million? average of 4.5

fair offers or wishful thinking?

All of the above. McRoberts is still fairly unknown around the league. I'd be surprised if he saw over $5M in free agency.

Yeah, I also think that it's very unlikely.
