It's the latter. Brooks is indeed a "class A moron"

Says the guy who's adamant about bringing in Hayward after shooting 30% on 3-pointers for the season. Lamb made more 3-pointers than Hayward off the bench in limited minutes

Lol im not adamant about bring in freaking Hayward. Read above, I said we arent going to get him so hes a moot point. Don't put words in my mouth my man.
Lance Stephenson I would love to have. Im also content with Henderson. It isn't like we are starting some scrub at SG.

I read your 'moot point' part, but I also remember you being high on Hayward beforehand. Maybe your fondness of Hayward has diminished recently after witnessing his struggles & inefficiencies in a bigger role, but I'm just going off my memory. Sorry if it came off as if I'm putting words in your mouth

Liver_Pooty wrote:Lol eh you're fine. Im still high on Hayward, but only if we sign him outright at a reasonable deal. Hes a second option at best. Sorry if I came off a little aggressive.

Trade for SG Gerald Henderson & SF Jeff Taylor for SF Jeff Green (BOS)
Draft SG Zach LaVine at #24th overall with Portland owed 1st rounder
Sign PF/C Ed Davis (MEM) to a offer sheet worth $30 million/5 years, heavily front-loaded so that the Grizzlies won't match
Re-sign Chris Douglas-Roberts and Anthony Tolliver
Sign PG A.J. Price
Restructure Josh McRoberts contract to $13 million/3 years

PG: Kemba Walker/A.J. Price

The overpay is to help Charlotte reach the salary cap floor as well as prevent Memphis from matching. I would hate to see the Hornets re-brand kickstarted by overpaying for a shooting guard like Lance Stephenson that may ruin the great team morale that they already have. I view the Davis deal almost like a 1-year deal for financial responsibilities. I believe that they can stay put, and possibly make a trade using the Detroit 1st rounder to net the shooting guard that they need moving forward. Also, Ed Davis is the defensive-minded PF that could play spot minutes with Jefferson, as well as young enough to succeed him in another 3-5 years with Biyombo

Reach the salary floor? We'd be at the salary floor before the deal. Giving Ed Davis a bad contract is worse.

Hayward costs money and talent in the form of players or picks.
I think it's a no-brainer.
This team has several holes. The main one is we need a 3rd option and Lance is the best 3rd option out there for money alone. And he's 23. He can grow with Kemba, MKG, Zeller, the player we take with the Blazers pick and the player we select with the Pistons pick. It could be a really strong group of young players to watch mesh for a very long time. Clifford is solid. The culture is solid.
Actually depending on what Utah would match Hayward costs money alone too.

If they don't match they lose him for nothing. If they match they can keep him or do a sign & trade. They have plenty of cap space to not lose him for nothing, so I assume they will match. If we end up with him on a match, it's through a sign & trade.
Quite simple.
MasterIchiro wrote:Put another way, although possible, it's far fetched to assume we will be able to sign Gordon Hayward outright with Utah forfeiting him for nothing.
If that happens it's because we overpayed grossly and at that point you have to look back at Lance Stephenson's price tag.
As Mr. KIA said, Lance Stephenson is the most realistic target.
I like the idea of trading Henderson + Neal for Jeff Green as well, tidy up the bench a little and really push MKG at the SF position.
I think it's more realistic that Napier is there at 24 and LaVine goes much earlier.
I also think Cody Zeller's late emergence will give them hesitation to spending on the PF position so Ed Davis won't happen imo. They like the fit with McRoberts as well.
Kemba/Napier
Stephenson/CDR
MKG/Green
Zeller/McRoberts
Jefferson/Biyombo
Pistons top-1 protected pick

Not quite simple because if they do match they have to pay him what we offer and they may not want that. They have to have seen he is a complimentary player by not and they have nobody for him to compliment. He helps us a lot and helps them very little right now. The team I would be more worried about it the Suns.
