My question is, why in God's name would you buy a basketball team if you hate black people?

Because then you can watch them make money for you, entertain you and feel superior. 21st version of a 19th century concept.

Yah I definitely get the impression it's some sort of weird slave master mentality he's getting off on. Though if I were paying someone millions of dollars to perform it would kind of nullify those feelings pretty quickly.

Pretty much. He's got it down to having the super young lighter minority "wench"

Ya man. That's what every Klansman grows up dreaming of. To become rich enough to buy an NBA team, then only play Black players 15 million a year when they could be making 20 million a year. That'll keep em down!

Players agree to a collective bargaining agreement as a union. Not only that but by limiting how much the top players make you ensure that there will be more jobs for players. If you took away the cap and salary restrictions it could easily lead to teams folding due to the economics and the growing disparity of the "have" teams and the "have not" teams. Trust me, nobody buys an NBA team out of racism. It isn't proof that he isn't racist either. It's just a business/hobby for rich guys to show off, like their girlfriends who are 50 years younger than them.

Sorry but your argument is overly simplistic and fails to understand how the world works.

Really, we're in the 21st century, times have changed and so have racist. I didn't say he bought the team because he's racist, I said it makes sense why it doesn't bother him that he pays black players millions. He feels ownership over these players. They are beneath him in his mind and fact that he pays them is prove to him they are. He watches them knowing they are their to entertain him and they make even more money. There's a history of this, the former owner of the Cincinnati Reds comes to mind.

I think his girlfriend looks more black than hispanic, but that's just me. What a bizarre situation all around.

I think he's an old school guy who happens to have a young attractive chick who he knows is going to get it elsewhere [he even tells her she can), but still doesn't want her to be seen as the chick who goes around banging all the black guys and it bothers him that she basically flaunts it in his face by posting pics on Instagram. I think it has more to do with his insecurities, than it does with blatant KKKesque racism. After all, he owns an NBA team, and has to interact with blacks on a daily basis. Sounds somewhat masochistic if he were truly the racist that this chicks apparently wanted to make him out to be. Besides, she's Mexican with some African ancestry-- what kind of a lame ass racist is this guy? Smells fishy to me, bitch was probably trying to extort money from him.

Ummm....no. There's no defending him and he really is a racist. Sterling has a long history of racism even before this incident. He doesn't allow black or hispanic families to rent his apartments, he pays his black employees less than his white employees, etc. This latest incident just seals the deal.

He was an owner of properties and didn't like renting to Mexicans and Blacks. This has much less to do with racism and way more to do with the reputation Blacks and Mexicans have as tenants. As a long time owner, I'm sure he saw it first hand. Ever been to predominantly black or Mexican neighbourhoods? I'm sure what I just said will be taken for racism, but I couldn't care less. People need to be realistic, not everything is blatant racism.

Sounds like this professional girlfriend got tired of being Sterling's 2-in-1 trump card for claims of racism and tried to extort him, but the dummy didn't know how cheap he can be. They're both trash and I'm worse off for having listened to this.

I don't think this concerns Silver, though. When Doc and the players hear this it could be a self-correcting situation.

Not sure what's more shocking.

1. What Sterling said
2. People lamely defending him
3. People slamming his girlfriend for exposing him
4. Some of the racist comments by posters here

attitudes regarding 2 and 3 have been constants on this board so it's not THAT shocking. The internet allows an anonymous platform for attitudes and beliefs that aren't practical to share in real life. Except by that one weirdo in tutorials or lectures who stirs the pot to sound intellectual.

Says someone with an Avatar of a guy who made an empire off of sexploitation of countless young women and treats them in much the same way as Sterling.

Centre Court I can't believe you are defending the GF. It ain't like she is doing this as public service. It takes a person of very low character to do what she did with the audio taping. Not so much taping it but trying to goat and set up Sterling.

Where were would society be if scumbags weren't revealed by tapings like this?

On a broader scale we wouldn't have known that the US government was involved in illegal surveillance if not for someone leaking secret documents and recordings.
