None of that matters if the player receiving the ball is behind ball as it is played.

Nope you are wrong.

If there are two strikers and goalkeeper is out of line, if striker A passes to striker B even though striker B is behind the ball, it is still offside.

Example;

<---------->

--------ball
A--------B
goalkeeper

This is offside. <-------> is the net. A and B both passed the goalkeeper there is no more opponent. If B passes it to A even though A is behind the ball, it is OFFSIDE.

You are wrong :)

I've seen it a couple of times before. It happened last year in Turkey also.

I am in China and youtube is blocked here. If you google it, you can find a lot of them.

It was 3-4 years ago, Besiktas played against Rapid Wien and ref disallowed Bobo's goal. It was a similar situation if i am not mistaken.

http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/footbal ... eutral.pdf

A thousand goals have been scored where an attacker gets past everyone including the goalie on the byline and plays it back to an attacker in a central position for a simple finish.

The rule clearly states that you have to be ahead of the ball to be offside. If there were such an odd exception, it would be in the rule book.

Show me ten then since you claim there are thousand goals like that.

Show me ten of them. Goalie is out, two strikers together and pass it to another.

It's almost as if that's not how goals get categorised on Youtube.

How about you show us the rule which states you cannot pass the ball backwards once you are ahead of the goalie?

Treiz put it already. It is in the last page.

Sure then. If it is that many of them on youtube, provide a link for 10 of them.

Was that before or after he said, i've sort of conceded to Ted already?

Just to be clear, he did no such thing.

For the last time, the rule clearly states that you have to ahead of the ball to be offside. And nowhere does it say, but there is this one exception where you can be behind the ball but still be offside.

And how many times have i asked you to show me the rule?

The very point i made about Youtube was that it would be very difficult to search for such a video due its vague and unimportant nature.

Now show us the rule and settle this debate for once and all, or is the Fifa rule book limited in China too?

Meanwhile, once again:

A player is in an offside position if:

he is nearer to his opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent

How many times have I told you i have very limited google access in China forget about youtube, dailymotion, facebook etc?

I wouldn't go into fifa rule book and search for it while i write 10 pages report to the headquarter of JP everyday. I would just find some goals on youtube.
